Overview:
In the waning days of the Dark Age, Kallon Industries on Loyalty would begin designing an
update for the Falcon Hawk. In a post break-up FWL were years of low-intensity high mobility
warfare had become the norm, slow light mechs were no longer viewed as desirable or
acceptable, and Kallon Industries wanted to get with the times. However, in the course of
the design process the design team would so radically depart from the core design of the
Falcon Hawk that its resulting product was barely recognizable from what it had been. The
mech that would finally step off the production line in late 3152 would be designated the
Jinete after the famed light horsemen of Medieval Spain. Coming in at 40tons (5 tons more
than its progenitor) the new 'Jinete' would come a long way from being a simple update to an
old design. In an attempt by the design team (in particular the lead, the mildly eccentric
Hernado Cortes) to blend some the best aspects of the omni-mech concept with the low
productivity cost of a normal Battlemech an intense study would be conducted on mechs that
incorporated module design into them and then exploit this in the emerging new design.
[9:40 AM]
The result of this application would be that the Jinette series could rapidly slot in new
weapons loadouts if they stayed the same weapon type. With the JNT-series being an energy
focused loadout that would mean that medium-vsp-laser could be swapped out for a light-ppc
or a medium x-pulse laser. Unlike a true Omni-mech however, the JNT would not require pods
to make this exchange and instead utilize commercial off the self-products. This wasn?t done
with the strict approval of Kallon HQ and when it was discovered the board was furious
however the progress made was undeniable, and so grudging approval was given (along with a
much shorter leash). This new mech-concept would be organized into series, the JNT-52 series
(first produced in 3152) would consist of a base-line mech product and three configurations
at launch.
Capabilities:
The JNT-52 Base unit would have a 280 rate XL engine letting the mech hit speeds of 119
km/h. Additionally it would come with 5 jump-jets and a partial wing propelling the mech to
210 meters through the air. 7.5 tons (127pips) of Light-Ferro Armor would be used. An IS
Endo-Steal structure would also be utilized to free up additional tonnage. However, this
would ultimately limit the energy weapon loadout the design could carry. 11 heatsinks would
be utilized letting the mech sink up to 25 heat.
The JNT-52A: Intended for brawling, skirmishing, and back-stabbing, each arm would carry a
Clan-Spec er-medium laser while a medium VSP laser would be installed in each side torso.

Well. It's an interesting design.
Good movement profile. Decent weapons load. And decent survive-ability.
HOWEVER...
I do not like the use of a partial wing with less than max jump jets. You spend 3 tons and 8 crits for 1 ton and 2 crits worth of jump jets. Maybe as a test bed or prototype, but I cannot see such waste make it into production. Sorry, cannot accept. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

with respect think I'm going to protest on this one. While I could replace the partial wing with jumpjets and two more heat-sinks altering the sinking ability from 29/24 @ 25-sinking to 31/24 @sinking 26 I would like to submit for consideration that with the partial wing it is far more heat efficient for jumping as the two additional jump movement provided by the partial wing does not produce heat and I am not required to used all my jumpjets before implementing said partial wing movement.

A valid argument, but I still personally do not like it. Objectively, it works as a design. Subjectively, i'd rather full JJs vs partial wing/partial JJ. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.
