I like to think I've hit upon a major variation, for once, of my meandering, but what do I know?
The point is "simply crossing water more important then not entering woods before unloading?" Do you value crossing water obstetrical more then instantly hiding from air searches?

Long overdue for a revision, now that I've hit upon the theory of only letting six pedestrians fit in a single "space."
It's also worth contemplating the utility of reactive armor on the infantry conveyance you expect everyone to hide under. _________________ Goose

It finally occurred to me to build a gun/truck variant for the MPs. The problem is the L-AMS: 225k C-bills for something only I think highly of (and requires I-can't-guess to make as useful as in MWO) makes for a real hard sell.
What it does have going for it is the "standardized" engine, and plenty of speed to concentrate your force of escorts between the enemy and all your cruize-6 hover trucks. _________________ Goose

L-AMS works very well, the thing is folks do not take kindly to many of the TBH weapons and such that migrated over to main stream use. Also we don't see the L-AMS on a lot of canon stuff.
For vehicles, it makes a lot of sense, mainly for those with a fusion engine for sure. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Nice list and 31 is a lot of mechs, but again it's not a common tech item in use. Also, to me the mechs with a persons name next to is a custom mech since it's been singled out from the common mech itself. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

I'll agree. I really don't think I've ever seen anyone use it in any BT event that I've been in, and we typically are pretty open at times with what can be used, so long as it's canon. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

For vehicles it's a nice thing as long as they have a fusion engine and no energy weapons. With energy weapons on board the L-AMS competes for heat sinks and unlike with 'Mechs the vehicles only mount SHSs and must have enough of them to dissipate all potential heat, so the thing often gets rather heavy because of that (+7 SHSs for IS and +5 SHSs for clans). On 'Mechs it again depends on weapons loadout, but since the thing can produce a heat spike at random it's not nearly as popular.
As for the proliferation overall - under the older rules the thing rolled 2d6 (or even 3d6 in it's first appearance) for number of missiles shot down and produced just as much heat, so it alone required 12 (or 18) heat sinks on a vehicle, as you still had to be able to dissipate all heat potentially generated, and greatly complicated heat management on the 'Mechs which, quite unsurprisingly, made it rather unpopular. That's is why you won't see it on most of the canon advanced/experimental designs (formerly level 3 rules). _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!
