Capabilities:
An upgrade of the standard Gunslinger to make it far more effective at long range, while
sacrificing close range ability the changes make this 'Mech a superb long-range fighter.
Because the Gunslinger fights at longer ranges, it made perfect sense to fit it with Stealth
Armour so that it is even harder for enemies to hit it. The amount of armour carried was
increased to the maximum possible for an 85-ton 'Mech. The Gauss Rifles were retained - as
was the XL Engine, but a ton more gauss ammunition was added to increase the design's
ability to put out sustained fire. Three jump jets were included (instead of the original
two) which were placed one in each torso. All the Medium lasers and one of the Medium Pulse
lasers of the original were removed and replaced with two ER Medium Lasers in the Left
Torso. The remaining Medium Pulse Laser was moved to the centre torso and reward mounted.
The Guardian ECM was kept (so that the Stealth Armour would function) but the Beagle Probe
was replaced with a C3 Slave so that the 'Mech can utilise the targeting information of its
lance-mates. Finally, for good measure, CASE II was installed in both side torso to protect
the expensive XL engine in the event of a gauss rifle explosion.

I have a feeling that this concept would work much better on a heavier chassis, which would give me the ability to remove the XL engine for much greater survivability (for example), but I can't think of a heavier design which mounts dual standard gauss rifles. _________________ Times change.

The Nightstar NSR-9J (from which I made the NSR-9JX variant) mounts dual Gauss rifles, an ER PPC, 2 medium Pulse Lasers and a small Laser. It is a 95 ton 3,5 (with an XL engine though). I'm sure you'd find a way to add some JJs as well if you wanted . _________________
