Hypothetical.
Presume for a moment that Catalyst commissioned a new cartoon Battletech cartoon series, if only as a Netflix exclusive.
What era of the game would you want it set in? _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Wolfwood to a random cat (Trigun)

I personally would like to see them start with 3025 and go on from there.
I would just want them to use the same animation studio that has been doing Voltron Legendary defender _________________ Stinger If it's "creepy" to use the Internet, military satellites, and robot aircraft to find a house full of gorgeous young models so I can drop in on them unexpected, then FINE, I'm "creepy". If I could do it, the first episode would be in 3013 with the death of Ian Davion at the end and the 2nd would be the rise to the crown of Hanse Davion. The 3rd episode would hope forward a few years and go from there.
As much as I love the Clan era, the foundation of BT is this period just after the 3rd SW and before the 4th SW. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

You'd have to start it early on as it allows for the greatest amount of future episodes. As others have said, 3025ish. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Oh come on... We need an episode on Mackie and Star League and libration of Terra. Just a quick flythrough at the beginning to kick off the glorious mess that the Succession wars are. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Easy Answer: You don't use any of the Unseens.
Hard Answer: You use the Project Phoenix versions. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

That sounds great, but Harmony Gold claims that mechs like the Atlas and others are ALSO stolen from mecha that they ONLY have the rights too...
I seem them being the biggest issue with a new cartoon and fighting it till either they are give up or pay HG to go away. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Depends on who produces the cartoon and how many lawyers they have! We all know the company with the most lawyers always prevails! _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

And folks thought FASA would win against them as well, right now I am not betting on CGL and HBS winning anything. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Essentially, I want the Blood of Kerensky series, but with a little build up.
Use he first season to show the end of the 4th Succession War to say, 3039. This establishes the main players of the Inner Sphere, their heirs that become major characters later on, and sets the tone of the series. I always felt that the characters that came up in the mid 3000s were the most melodramatic and worthy of dramatization.
The epilogue to the last episode would be the Explorer Corps encountering the Clans.
Start the second season without the Explorer Corps explained, just jump the beginning of Blood of Kerensky, etc.
Lets face it, a lot of people like the characters like Victor Davion, Teddy Kurita, Sun Tzu Liao, Vlad, Phelan. Having a good character based series following the stylization of Game of Thrones, Rome, Dune (2001) or even UC Gundam would be the best. _________________ "Historians exercise great power and some of them know it.
