Hi all,
just wanting the general opinion on the LAC/2. Although, yes, the NAIS did make the LAC lighter they also reduced its range.
So, what do you think: is the LAC/2 still a peashooter or just a straw?

What about compared to a Light PPC?
Personally, by making the AC/2 lighter, they removed the one good thing about it: extreme range. Now, the LAC/2 is still heavy for its damage potential but is little good as the peashooter it was designed to be.
One good thing, I guess, is that it can use Armour Piercing rounds but in gameplay for any critical hits to be made a die roll of 12 must be got which is very unlikely in any scenario.

The best thing about an AC2 is the range. You take that away and it's worthless, unless you pack 10 of them.... _________________ Sir Henry

I find the LAC/2 rage sufficient for a 4t weapon. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

What good is a peashooter if it dosen't have extreme range?
If you want a very long range weapon then I wouldn't go for the LAC/2 but if all you need is a low heat med range AC then I guess it's OK + it can use special munitions.
It is good for a light 'Mech but snipers are usually Medium or Heavy.

The LAC/2 has enough range (18 hexes) with great heat and 45 shots for 5 tons.
So:
LAC/2 w 1t ammo - 1 heat, 2 dmg, 18 range, 5 ton, 2 crit, 1 dhs heat neutral. Adjusted weight: 6 tons. Adjusted weight to damage: 3:1.
LL - 8 heat, 8 damage, 15 range, 5 ton, 2 crit, 3 dhs heat neutral. Adjusted weight: 8 tons. Adjusted weight to damage: 1:1.
ERLL - 12 heat, 8 damage, 19 range, 5 ton, 2 crit, 6 dhs heat neutral. Adjusted weight: 11 tons. Adjusted weight to damage: 1.375:1.
LPPC - 5 heat, 5 damage, (3 min) 18 range, 3 ton, 2 crit, 3 dhs heat neutral. Adjusted weight: 6 tons. Adjusted weight to damage: 1.2:1.
As you can see, the LAC/2 on units with SHS or heat neutral is a good weight. BUT it has terrible damage versus all the other options especially the LPPC. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

Or 22 shots and ignore 2 points of target movement penalty for precision ammo _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!
