2 PPCs, 1 Large Laser, and 2 medium lasers.. and 20 heat sinks.
Who says this runs hot?
Long range has you firing 2 PPCs and running for 6 or so turns before any appreciable effects build up.
Short range is covered with the L. Laser and 2 M. Lasers.
This is a very nice 3025 mech, and the laser conversion covers the most glaring problem with the base design. |

This is the only version of the Pheonix Hawk that I just don't like..
The lack of Jump jets just changes this mech from a graceful flier that can maneuver you in and out quickly and efficiently, to a ground pounder which doesn't have the ability any longer to escape the really tough spots.

This is an excellent mech design if used correctly. It is fast, has lasers, and those silly magine guns.. In a one on one battle, I will often unload the magine guns upon the start of the battle, unless facing infantry or tanks.
The machine gun gives the mech excellent in city fighting prowess, and the movement and lasers allow it to kill anything Inner Sphere up to an equal in tonnage. |

This version of the Wolverine is a little light on offensive firepower.. It is a close in brawler, and that AC5 is kind of a detriment.
Overall though, the mech has a wide variety of uses that it works well in. In a company situation, it has the mobility to get behind opponents, and in a recon lance, it can wipe up most lights. |

This is a fast ground pounder.. I wish they had kept a few jump jets, as once they remove them this guy can get into serious trouble.
With 14 heat sinks, it is very easy to get hot, and without the jumpjets, it is very difficult to then get away to cool off.. The additional problem of the SRM6 and ammo cooking off, makes this mech an interesting company support mech.

This is one of my favorite mechs..
Very good movement for a 55 ton mech.
Very good mix of weaponry, and nice and heavy armor.
I like to use this mech as a brawler, jump until you get in close, then open up with kicks, medium lasers, and the SRM. If you throw in the Large laser, just make sure you have a decently covered spot to jump to and cool off once in a while. |

Don't like this design..
It has alot of weapons, fair movement, and almost no armor for a medium mech.
Even with its extra array of weapons, most of those weapons will cause the sandpaper effect on its target, slowly whittling away the target's armor.. and this version of the Shad just doesn't have enough armor of its own to remain in the fight long enough to do that. |

The Shads are not my favorite basis for mechs.. They put light weapons on a medium mech and the combination just doesn't have the staying power to fight another mech of equal size.
This mech is OK as a light hunter, but even then, with its speed it is at best a minimal fit. |

Interesting design, the PPC gives it long range power, but with an LRM to back it up, it leaves a glaring hole up close..
I would have rather seen this mech with Medium lasers or SRMs for up close support.
This mech really can only be used as part of a company which uses it for long range pot shots. Since it has kind of low armor it really can't just stand and deliver as it will attract return fire. |

Griffin is an OK mech..
Best use is part of a lance or company that is designed for long range firepower. The lack of any close in weaponry support can come into play against a smart opponent.
It does have good movement and armor though, so it can recover from a mistake. |
