BattleMech: Marauder MAD-9M
Rating: 3.50
Comment: This MAD will overheat if firing three lasers and will be in trouble with 16+ heat if firing all four. So what for is the fourth laser?
The streaks on the other side are nice crit seekers, ammo as well as heat conserving.
ECM and heavy armor counter the XL disadvantage but the TAG seems a bit out of place. Better take an ER small and half a ton of armor. CASE would have been good too, to salvage this mech, but there isn't enough space for that.

BattleMech: Marauder II MAD-5A
Rating: 3.50
Comment: Again! A really expensive XL and no money left to put in DHS´s. Buy the DHS´s first and you will see: You don´t need that XL.
On the other side the change to a LB10-X lowers the heatproblems that it got from the ER-PPC´s and gives it a nasty crit seeking ability.

Fluff says: "... Interestingly, the right-torso section comes with a CASE configuration, even though no ammo is stored there. This has led many to speculate that some projectile weapon field kit variant is contemplated." They put CASE in a torso for a eventually field upgrade but put that LB-X ammo in the other torso? If this Marauder would carry an energy weapon instead and this LB10-X would be a part that "projectile weapon field kit variant" i would have understand it.

BattleMech: Marauder II MAD-4S
Rating: 4.00
Comment: Finally the Marauder II got its double heat-sinks. The light engine gives it more survivability while still being able to enhance its firepower. The HGR is a strong addition at ranges up to 13 hexes and the twin PPC's make it difficult to outrange it. All in all that much better than the -5A.

BattleMech: Marauder II MAD-4A
Rating: 4.00
Comment: The Marauder II is a tough opponent. With its heavy armor and without any ammo it is hard to take down.
The firepower is somewhat light but what mech can claim to fire 2 PPC´s and a large laser without overheating? The constant barrage will take its toll from any enemy.
The JJ´s are a nice bonus too.

BattleMech: Locust LCT-1L
Rating: 4.00
Comment: Remember that this one was used in the 4th Succession War around 3029/3030. This is not a "New Aera Mech".
It is a -1V with TSM to boost speed (rather useless in close combat but a 8 point kick from a 20 tonner isn´t that bad). It has to shut down heatsinks and a 2 turn delay to switch it on but after this you can easyly hold your heat at 9:
Fire your laser (even if there´s nothing worth hitting), run all the time (a locust should do this anyway) and only keep 5 heatsinks running.

BattleMech: Lineholder KW1-LH3
Rating: 2.50
Comment: Seems to be one of that 3050 style upgrades. Put in some fancy high tech weapons and forget about the rest.
This upgrade is easy to do even in the field but what do you get? Some more range for the main weapon is a good idea as is the increased accuracy of the shortrange weaponry but on the other side you loose some prescious close up firepower and you are able to overtax that single heat sinks in no time.

BattleMech: Lineholder KW1-LH2
Rating: 4.00
Comment: As this isn´t intended to compete against top rated 3058 frontline machines but to be an inexpensive, easy to repair mech for minor powers in small low tech border fights it is a real boon to smaller nations. By investing only relativly little money you get a tough, well armed and good armored workhorse that has a good speed too. As most laserheavy low tech designs it has some heatproblems though but proper heat management won´t be so difficult.

BattleMech: Lao Hu LHU-3C
Rating: 4.00
Comment: Now the Lao Hu is a real long range fighter.
The gauss rifle is well supported by the ER laser and the LRM's can carry three different types of ammo (though i don't like the splitting).
Despite fielding a C3-master variant (-3B) Liao chose not to equip this mech with a C3-slave.

BattleMech: Lancelot LNC25-02
Rating: 2.50
Comment: I don´t like this Lancelot-"downgrade".
Even with 19 heatsinks it runs much too hot firering its 3 main weapons.
A 3-2-3 punch (like the Awesome) isn´t manageble too.
The other problem is the armor:
Not enough to slug it out and too little speed to run away.
The Lancelot went from an formidable attack mech to a support machine

BattleMech: Lancelot LNC25-01
Rating: 4.00
Comment: Very fast, strong firepower and the heatsinks to use it.
You can build up some heat through moving and firing the medium but there is no ammo anyway.
Its armor is somewhat light and so the XL is in danger of being damaged after a few hits but if you keep on running and stay out of pulselaser range you´ll be fine.
