As with all XL Assaults, be very careful what you try to do with this thing.
In one game, I absolutely dominated with this thing hurling LRM's across the battlefield. Then a light mech broke through my lines and began harassing it. How many LPL's can a Spider take? Turns out not many :)
The next game I used it, well. I do not want to talk about it. Do not try and plug gaps with this. The lasers look nice but cannot handle the stuff that will be thrown at it just because its an assault. |

This mech is abit of a bracket fighter, its weapons cover most ranges tight. 18 reloads for each LRM-20 is plenty but watch the heat !! You deal strong hard hitting damage with the Artemis and 20s but you have so much ammo that freak hits will become nasty.
Ammo explosions are nasty, since this mech mounts about 8 tons of ammo. Good news is that you can duel against long ranged LRM boats without fear too thanks to AMS.
I will definitely try not to use the pulses until the ammo is really dried up. A small mistake can cost an ammo explosion, not nice.

This "Crusader" is a bit slow for an 80 tonner of this aera but packs hefty firepower and superb armor.
At long range the Artemis-supported LRM´s will deliver a hard punch for a long time. Up close the pulse lasers will do the same. That AMS is usefull here with lots of ammo.
But it has two serious flaws: The lack of CASE can be very costly if the ammo blows up and the use of the pulse lasers will bring you in heat-trouble soon!
To mount more DHS´s is not an option because of the limited space. |

I've used this mech with a lot of success. The lrm20's and the number of reloads allow this 'mech to provide excellent fire support (better than a Catapult) and the armor lets it take a couple of gauss or AC20 hits before you have to start worrying and most other 3058 assault mechs mount XL's, so that is not too big of an issue. I think the pulses were intended for use after you run out of lrm ammo, so the heat problem is not too bad. The AMS is nice for a fire support mech, since you will probably facing a lot of missiles. The speed and ams ammo are both a little lacking, but that does not hurt the 'mech too much. The pulses let this act as a bodyguard for other fire support mechs since most harrassers will try to get within lrm minimum range, where the pulses are very effective. I have surprised a few friends with this when they expected to kill all of my fire support mechs at close range and instead had their own mechs destroyed by pulses. You could also keep one of these in reserve and use it to fill in gaps in your battle line. As long as you use the weapons at their intended range, this mech can dish out some serious hurt. |

This mech only has the heat sinks to use one set of weapons at a time. So it's either a slow Archer, a slow large pulse laser carrier, or a slow medium pulse laser. It tries to cover to many ranges, and ends up substandard every time. Dropping those large pulses for a standard engine, CASE, and an ER Large with a few more heat sinks would make this a better, and much cheaper, design. |
