RC-100x Red Claw
BACKGROUND:
The Imperial Design Corporation, in conjunction with TSi, sat down in late 3065 and put down designs for an Urban 'mech capeable of equipping the Imperial RAC-5. Several designs were introduced, and as always, a compromise was made.
Capabilities:
Though they started out using the Rakshasa chassis, the designers quikly decided that Long Range Missles would not fit the design outlines. Both racks were removed and quikcly the designers found that the entire torso area was overpacked by the engine. The initial decision was to use a Standard engine, but TSi execs. wanted a heavier payload, so a Light 300 Engine was installed instead. Content, the team moved on to the more imporant aspects.
Jump Jets were almost immedietly installed, though the original enhanced jump jets were not included. The 120 meter jump capability was satisfactory, still, and the team was happy.
The main weapon were already decided, and the dual RAC-5s were installed, one in each arm. Each cannon was to be supplied by 60 rounds of ammo, stored in the arms, near the gun itself. CASE was installed in each arm as well, in the forseen event that the ammo would be hit. It is unsure if there is a linkage between the two autocannons, but due to the lack of any lower arm actuators, it is very possible. Secondary weapons were added in an almost pod-like fashion, making for easy refits. Each side torso contains a trio of Extended Range Medium Lasers. The most popular variant idea has benn the inclusion of a Beagle Active Probe, or similar equipment, in place of one of the lasers.
Deployment:
Though still in the testing phases, the Red Claw has already been ordered for the downtown patrol units for the TDT's security.
Variants: The only real variation on the design is the 300ZX which drops both ACs and 2 lasers for the long range Light Gauss Rifles. This variant is much more suited for open terrain combat, but is criticised for having a much lower damage potential.

Is the CASE on the Red Claw CASE II or Clan CASE? I ask because IS CASE can't be in the arms.

Its standard CASE, in the arms of an IS mech. Go read my little thing at the end of the "What will be the next imporvment" topic in the General Discussion. I feel its time that the IS's CASE penalty is sropped. Its just dumb now.

Interesting design. I like the dual RAC/5s reminds me of a Goliath from StarCraft.
I'm not sure if I like the lasers though, but since designing my own game i've found lasers less appealing, so its more personal preference of what i would perfer to have then any mistake on your part.
Overall well done! I'll give it Three Feathers (Raven's new ranking system).

I didnt want it to be too ammo dependent, and this allows me to spread damage and nasty little punch when things get close. Aside from the abusive RAC-5s that is.

Um...out of how many?
Basically I designed this to look cool in a city fight when collaterol damage occurs...SOME of that RAC ammo has to miss!

LOL collateral damage.
hehehe
Umm.. the new Raven system works like this:
0 feathers = Piss poor. Come back later and I might not bitch slap you.
1/2 Feather = Poor. Can use serious work.
1 feather = ammusing, but not something i'd use personally.
2 Feathers = Good, solid, nothing inspired.
3 Feathers = Ammusing and I'd use it
4 Feathers = Pretty Damn Spiffy, You bet I'm saving this in HMpro as we speak.
5 Feathers = Excellent Design, quality craftsmanship, definite future use, incredable fluff text, every aspect of the machine is a brilliant design.
There are, of course half feathers in between all those.
The best award though is the -
Tail Feather = This one means I worship you as the God of Mech design. So far i have not produced a design deserving of a Tail Feather, and I haven't seen one either, though there are many five feathers out there.
Raven!
