Actually, I tend to agree with you. (And Blackhand as well.) I wouldn't buy it either.
To be honest, the entire concept came from this thread. The exchange between Sir Henry and Wanallo.
I notice most people nurse their 'Mechs quite a bit before posting them. I've been settling into that as well, but quite a few of the 'Mechs I've posted are based on some idea, or just an attempt to impreve an existing design. Some of them had real thought behind them (the King Crab went through a half dozsen or so revisions), and some didn't. This is one of the latter. This one didn't even get tested in MegaMek, which I did with a few early ones and most of the ones I've got going now.
And just so you know, I'm not completely insensitive to cost. My two Nightstar variants were for the express purpose of reducing cost. But for a 'Mech like this, it wasn't so much of an issue.
