------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Midnight scout is Cal-Boeing's attempt to compete with Michaelson Heavy
Industries' Sprint. The Midnigtht is slower than the Sprint, and depends on
its larger size for much of its survivability. This extra weight lets the
Midnight mount a strong electronics array, as well as a trio of medium lasers
and an armor load which few VTOLs can match.
Instead of the Sprint's pathetic single ton of armor, the Midnight carries
six-and-a-half tons of StarGuard CIV armor. Even with six times the Sprint's
armor and three times the Sprint's tonnage, the Midnight can still make about
three-quarters of the Sprint's speed.
The heavy armor, combined with high speed, and a weak but acceptable armament,
often lead to groups of Midnights being used as fast raiders, moving ahead of
the ground units to find and destroy supply vehicles and ammo dumps.
Interdicting enemy scouts (including BattleMechs) is also part of the
Midnight's role. If a Midnight group finds anything too heavy for them to
handle, they can designate it for bombardment, or simply retreat and leave it
to heavier machines.

I generally try to avoid begging for comments on designs, but I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me what they think of this one. This is my first VTOL, and I'd like to hear from someone who has more experience with them than I have.

It is a personnel thing really, but i really dislike Fusion Engines in vehicles especially VTOLs, maybe i'm just a throw back to lvl 1.
My suggestion and opinion is drop the weight by 5tons, drop speed to 9/14 and use ICE, lower armor by 1ton, and replace MLs with an LRM5 w/Art IV w/1ton ammo or MRM10 w/1ton ammo or SRM6 w/1ton ammo or StSRM4 w/1ton ammo.
As a scout, this thing shouldn't be engaging units, so It is my opinion that missile weapons will do fine especially the longer ranged ones. This brings the cost down to 1.7 mil and removes the Fusion.
Again, that is just me.

Hey ignore Vagabond there is no logical reason other than penny pinching not to use a fusion engine ...Advantages 1) lower weight 2) ten heat sinks lets you use lighter energy weapons with out having to worry about running out of ammo or have is explode up your butt.3) no fuel to worry about less of a load on your supply system 4) no need for power converters for energy weapons.
Now how could anybody in their right mind not like them.

Because as I have stated before... Fusion engines are harder to produce and maintain then ICE engines. ICEs can be produced on any planet with a metal shop and can be repaired by idiots are intelligent as Jessie James. Fusion, even in 3067 are still produced in extremely limited numbers and require ATLEAST 2 years of schooling if not a full blown Bachelors to repair. Yes, you save on full and weight, BUT you loose in flexability and simplicity. Finaly, it goes against most of the universe story line since the game started. Fusion engines are rair, it is that simple. Even the wonder production of the last decade in the IS still does not compensate for this.
So in conclusion, if your building this machine for a one shot game or a front line house unit, keep the fusion. However, if your building this to conform to the general standard of the campaign universe for anything other then a front line house unit, you use the ICE.
