Okay, let's see if I get this straight. In the course of the several stages of the lifepath, I add up pints for each skill, when the total reaches a set value I get a bonus to the skill use ( +1 for every 3 points, +2 for every 7 points and so on..)
Now, it says that after calculating all the bonuses, the excess points from all skills
are gathered for improvement of skills or purchase of new ones.
What happens when I have only gained 1 skill point towards one skill or +2?
Are those points lost or what?
So if I get this right, purchase of a skill at "level zero" (+0 Skill Bonus) always costs a point, so that means all those +1 to Skills mean I get the Skill at zero, wich is not great, but it's also better that untrained skill use.
So do I get it right when I think that if I have 2 skill points I get the Skill with a +' bonus and 1 leftover point that goes to the remainder total.
And purchasing a new Skill at zero takes 1 skill point?
Did I miss anything?

A better example would be this:
Raul has 10 skill points in Pilot/Mech. 7 is the nearest bonus marker (+2). He gets three bonus points, which he inserts into Martial Arts/Mech.
'Zero'-level does not mean anything; you know a tiny bit about that skill, but unless you have 2 points into it instead of just 1, you don't gain any extra skill points. (and even if you did, logic would dictate using it to elevate the skill.)
