    The Walkden A1 is the result of a simple complaint about the original A2: the price. As a
    result, almost all of the advanced components were removed and replaced with versions more
    in-line with client budgets.
    
    With the downgrading of the A2 ER PPC to a standard model, and the additional liberties this
    granted the designers in terms of heat load, they once again compromised on the weapons heat
    shielding. Rather than simply whittle the heat shield down to an acceptable minimum, the A1
    simply had it removed altogether.

    particular, the DCMS bemoaned the loss of brawling capability and leant on the maufacturer
    to restore to its original close range capability, supply issues be damned.
