Overview:
Designed as a testbed for new laser weapons, the ?Mech that would come to be known as the
Meltdown plays to many Lyran tropes: large tonnage, big weapons, decent armor and slow
speed. Carrying only three weapons, one would think that the design lacks firepower, but
each of its guns is capable of destroying an opposing ?Mech?s head, and the targeting
computer helps ensure it hits its targets. However, each of its guns are extremely heat
intensive, so even with 20 double heat sinks, it can quickly come to need to use its coolant
pods. It was for this reason the design earned its name.
Only a few prototypes were ever built as other designs proved to be more effective, and the
Meltdown?s guns were quickly outclassed.
