So is anyone else sinking their cash in any of the Flight Path movement system games, X-Wing, Star Trek Attack Wing, D&D Attack Wing or I think Sails of Glory?
I have been playing the Star Trek version for awhile now. Minis leave something to be desired on many ships and there are some overpowered combos, BUT there is something to be said about slagging your nephew's Federation fleet lead by the Enterprise-D with a couple of Vor'chas and a D7. Or K-turning all your Klingon cruisers and dropping a serious Trekkie's Ent-D and Defiant class with a single salvo, mwhahahaha! (Yes I like the Klingons, dang the defense dice, roll more red attack!!)
I have now been suckered (at least that is the tale Mrs Dragon is hearing) into X-Wing as well. Same basic movement system but a different approach to the ships their pilots, upgrades, weapons, etc. and a few what seem to be minor rule differences and you have a very different game. It really does feel like my YV-666 (Hound's Tooth) is slogging thru an asteroid field with a pair of mercenary Z-95s and tank like Y-Wing furballing it with some Imperial TIEs.
Both games do share some aspects like list/deck building and of course flying. A well built squadron poorly flown can loose to a slapped together list that has a commander with an eye. There is very much a thrill when you realize you managed to drop your ship right on someone's thruster port with half a mm to spare or the heart sinking to your stomach when you totally misread your opponent's intent and now he has the up your engine shot and you have nothing but a prayer to the gods of fate and dice. _________________ The JadeDragon

Not sure on Wings of Glory but Star Wars Armada does NOT use the Flight Path system. It is a very different game, which is good. The movement is more like Dreadfleet and their order system is unique to anything else I have played or seen played with a 2-3 turn delay for the bigger ships.
Yes you do not at least on opponent, ideally more like a good group of at least 4 regulars to make it fun else it is just another collectable thing. _________________ The JadeDragon
