base chassis: AWS-8Q (3025) Awesome
modifications:
*remove the RA, RT PPCs
*remove the RA, RT heat sinks
*Arrow IV RA / RT (9 RA, 6 RT)
*3 tons Arrow IV ammo + CASE RT
*Guardian ECM RT
*upgrade small laser to medium
*add medium laser LA
*add small laser LT(R)
justification: Awesomes are known for their firepower, but their high heat curve and slow speed nerfs their effectiveness in battle. this variation plays to their greatest strength (their raw bulk) while counteracting their weaknesses. the Arrow IV means that the mech can lob shells on a target from a distance, while the PPC and twin medium lasers means that the mech can do damage to anyone who tries to get close.
I created this for the campaign I'm planning; intel has suggested that the OPFOR is hiding chemical weapons at a munitions depot, and so an A4 model will be dispatched with napalm munitions to burn the place down. The party will be tasked with providing the escort for this mission. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Is this thing a one of a kind type mod, or a factory variant? I can see it tailored from scraps ocasionally for dangerous missions, but otherwise I'd expect it's work to be taken by vehicles. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

I came up with this for a campaign I'm piecing together.
The premise for the mission would be that an OPFOR weapons depot has been spotted. In advance of taking it out, the party is supposed to keep an nav point clear of enemy forces until a "heavy assault team" can arrive.
Said assault team would consist of this Awesome and its escort, the radically altered Guillotine I posted a year or so back.
It turns out that the weapons depot is suspected of housing chemical weapons, and so rather than take it out directly the decision has been made to handle it from a distance via napalm-filled Arrow IV rounds.
By having an Awesome be the platform, the hope was that the OPFOR wouldn't suspect it for being the artillery piece until it was too late. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." That could work, but I'd hate to be the tech tasked with creating this
Personally I'd try to modify artillery to look like J27 ammo trucks. Seeing one of the carried missiles to rise on it's own and fly after target would be funny as hell. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

The twist for the campaign would be that this is a *factory* variant rather than a field mod; the powers-that-be are sitting on some hidden factories for just such an emergency.
The group hiring the party is actually rather well-funded and has been waiting in the shadows for some time. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat."
