This is actually a difficult question for me. The Daishi has the sheer power of a Clan 100 tonner, plus the versatility of Omni technology. The Atlas is a big, angry machine, which has style, class, and pure bitterness on its side. I'm afraid that I must abstain from this vote.

I won't abstain. Atlas all the way. Which is better: death incarnate or the walking office building.
Death Incarnate eats office buildings for breakfast. The only good thing about the Daishi is that it is so difficult to kill that when an Atlas Pilot does it, he has even more glorious bragging rights. _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

Atlas for me.
It's a death god.
It's a matter of principle.
It's the Draconis Combine's biggest mech.
Nuff said.

Given the same pilots in each i will take the Daishi. It is easily by both Fluff and game terms one of the, if not the scariest mech to face on the field. Its pure firepower is unstoppable where as the Atlas in most versions is worthless ofside of short range. The Daishi will rip an Atlas apart before the Atlas can even clean the brown line out of its diaper! _________________ ".... at one hundred yards. Volley fire, present! Fire! Atlas all the way. I'll get three AS-7Ds for the price of one Daishi, and new pilots are easy to find in the IS.

Just take Atlas.
It's face is face of IS armies.
It embraces the will to crush enemy just with angry gaze.

I have to admit, i have loved the Daishi ever since i first saw it on the Mechwarrior games. Its always been my favorite assault, simply because if you need an assault mech. You might as well have the biggest baddest one their

Atlas, it's image is one that will always be associated with death coming. The Daishi is only a threat from the clan invasion on. The Atlas was designed during the Star League, heck Kerenski even had a hand on it's developement. With him for a progenitor, you just can't lose. So we've had 300+ years to fear the Atlas, only a dozen or so to fear the Daishi. When you are on the field of battle and see a Daishi you may know fear. When you see that death's head grinning at you from across the lines you know fear. It's ingrained into your psyche. Fear the Atlas, it's your death looking at you.

My guess is that it was a staged publicity stunt. There is no way that I have seen for the first Grand Titan to defeat anything above, say, 60 tons. The second design, maybe, but I have not seen it in action.

This was actually difficult for me.
I'm an Inner Sphere purist and a 3025 lover on top of that. When one thinks of both of those you always think Atlas.
But the truth is, the Atlas looks scarier than it actually is. Yes, it can take a beating and that AC/20 can hurt. But the fact remains the Daishi will kill it every time (barring lucky crits).
I can honestly say the Daishi is one of a small handful of Clan designs I've actually liked.

Give me a 5-8-5 mech with a couple large lasers or PPCs and a decent heat balance and that Atlas doesn't stand much of a chance.

Daishi. It's just more powerful. The Daishi will kill the Atlas nearly every time; even in its bad configurations, it's better. The Atlas is good, but there just isn't enough there to beat the Daishi.
