Its the same modifiers unless you manage something spectactular in standard rules.

It allows for 2 pivots instead of 1 to get +3, and allows a run of 7 hexes into a HW instead of just 6.

Are either of those going to come up often? Maybe not, but it still might come in handy

One thing Inoticed in a recent PBE-Mail game is that those turns can realy make a differance. If you have a couple of extra movement points to burn it can spell the differance between victory and defeat.

Something I learned early in my Mechwarrior experience: Speed = Life.

That is the reason I made this thing so fast. It has been saved several times in the 3 battles it has been in by that 1 extra modifier. That extra movement also helps in the jumping. I have found several opponents that forget just how far 9 hexes is when you move it in a straight line REGARDLESS of terrain. Fun stuff.

The Frog does great as long as you never let it sit still. EVER.

I'm far far far too much a 3025 timeline player. And it appears my spots are showing.

That is OK Blackhand. I never play any later than around 3058. (mostly because that is as far as I have in the books.)

I also have a different perspective because I never play campaigns. So things like Ammo and total cost of mech do not really matter to me. I just make sure that I win in the end. I have said it before, this is the reason that multiple reviews are important. Everybody sees things differently.

I used this mech in a couple games to give it a fair testing in prep for doing a review (which I never did do... lol) and I liked the 9 jump, especially bouncing into the assault mech of the 6 facing me and drilling it in the back almost every shot hit the torsos both times I jumped into its rear.

In 3025 where weapons are not as deadly more movement is a greater plus...getting one range to another is a big difference when a large laser is a primary weapon on a mech.

I am glad to hear that it has had favorable combat experience with at least one other person. It really drives someone nuts to jump 9 and get a back shot with only a 5 to hit. (+3 for jump, -2 for pulse)

I ran it, Jumped 9 got the awesome shot back. Mech proceeded to arm flip and end my day. Next time it was a failed piloting check into wooded hex as its IS standard pilot in this ride. Next time is a box defence and I said screw it and had it play around at 6 hexes and try to avoid getting hit, doesn't work.

It will work, AGAINST an opponent not prepared to arm flip, who doesn't box his troops, and who doesn't carry artillery mechs to fire across his formations with spotters, also needs a better than IS average pilot.

Thats a few too many conditions for me to guarenty sucess on.

The main thing about fast lights is it takes AN intelligent pilot to make effective use of them ...if played intelligently they are extremely dangerous,Just ask some of my victims

Dunno, of the 2 games I played to the finish with it I loved it. I never finished the other games I played it in though.

And not THAT many mechs can flip arms, and of those that can I don't jump them heh.

Well I play against a small group of players, and our regiment on regiment battles feature many mechs with arm flip and rear weapons due to our original propensity for sniping mechs like you describe.

Like I said in a friendly match where someone's not expecting it yeah its nice. Against, people paranoid about losing mechs to such a trick... its more a waste of money and time.

Its a calculated risk and like all calculated risks, you have to plan for the contingency of not being able to use it.
