I was watching Gundam: 08th MS Team a few days ago (I LOVE that show), and I saw one of the Gundams use what appeared to be a giant rifle. It looked like an interesting weapon. So, I designed one like it to mount on a 'mech. Tell me what you think!
Weapon: Heavy Cannon
Type: Ballistic
Rules Level: Level 2
Era: 2750/Star League
Mass: 10 tons
Crits: 12 slots
Heat Generated: 6 points
Damage/shot: 10 points
Ammunition/ton: 5 rounds
Minimum Range: 3 hexes
Short Range: 5 hexes
Medium Range: 14 hexes
Long Range: 22 hexes
Works with Targeting Computer: yes
Ammo explodes when hit: yes
To-Hit modifier: 0
Weapon BV: 166
Ammo BV: 21
WV: 102
Weapon cost/unit: 685,000 C-Bills
Ammunition cost/ton: 80,000 C-Bills
GAME NOTE: To fire the Heavy Cannon, the firing 'mech must first assume a firing stance to brace itself against the recoil. Assuming the stance requires 2 Movement Points, and leaving the stance requires an equal number of points.
PERSONAL NOTE: I tried to offset this weapons long reach and high damage by limiting its ammunition load, and making the weapon as large as reasonably possible, thus limiting the number of other weapons the 'mech can carry. Let me know if it worked, or if I went too far.

Well its interesting. I dont like the odd range though 5-14-22? Mabey 7-14-21 would look better the Med range bracket is just to big. But other than that it is interesting.
I have always had a problem with hand held weapons (this looks like one to me, forgive me if its not supposed to be) as since it is carried OUTSIDE the mech, why does it get internal slots that go inside the mech? But its also been a while since I read the rules for hand held so that may have changed or I may have read it wrong.

I don't really know how to average ranges, so I'm sorry if it didn't make much sense.
As to the hand-held thing, I'm not really sure if the weapon is mounted on the outside of the arm or not. I never really thought about it. _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. I'd rather have the Gauss Rifle, Same range, better Damage, and more Ammo per ton, and LESS HEAT.
