Excaliber. You can carry combined arms units in it. Though they are all old and rare.

Combined arms means a good, balanced battle force.

They don't make them at all. Haven't made any new Excalibers since early in the 1st succession war.

Out of interest, what sort of BV would a bog-standard union class dropship have? Are there any premade BT scenarios around using Dropships? I would be quite interested in using them / trying to destroy them. Also, any special rules?

I took a look and I deduced that in this
poll only Union Union-x and intruder are comparable.
Union DS weght 3600 tons BV 3259
Union-X weight 3700 tons BV 5997
Intruder weight 3000 tons BV 3875
Instead an excalibur DS weight 16000 tons BV3101
Anyway,an Excalibur doesn\'t got a sufficient
arsenal and so you should protect her with
a good screen of ASF or whatever else.
The only advantege is a huge cargo(something like 90 hvy vehicle-12 mechs-12inf. plt)but no 1 ASF.
But is not enough if you don\'t reach the ground safe.
And finally with 750.000.000 c-bill this is the cost of an
excalibur I prefer to buy 4 union(obsolete)
and I will be more protected while in space.

Unions are good for city grabs, but they are a bit big.go with a few smaller ones.

 The Overlord is the best as far as I am concerned,  . I know there are better designs for fighting on the ground but I like the Overlords size speed and mech carrying abilities. I also like its ability to carry armored infantry it can carry for these uniots can turn many a battle around for you.

The mercenary unit that i played in we had a few different dropships that we used I think if I remember right we had a union class, ovverlord, and a leopard class dropships. they were all good dropships. But it depends on what kind of missions you're going on as to what youi want to use them for. I like the union class because of its mech repair faciltys. That's always a bonus.
