Has anyone seen or built a deck centered around VTOLs? It seems like a good idea if there are enough of them. I don't think people put them in decks and they can't be blocked and they are cheap to deploy.

A friend of mine was famous for that, so now I automatically put VTOLs in all my decks, my favorite being the Pinto. The clans I think are really getting the short end of the stick on that tech, since no WOTC expansion ever released their vehicles.
Of course, if you have 'Mechs that are on guard duty, they can take out the fliers as they come in I think. It's only patrollers without VTOL that can't block, right? Or does it apply to guarding units too?

Right, it says VTOL cannot be blocked by patrolling 'mechs or patrolling vehicles without VTOL. Therefore if you had a 'mech or two guarding the stockpile, they would intercept.
Was just working on the CCG portion of the Products section and I saw them and it got me to thinking if it was possible to make a good deck based around VTOLs.

Yeah. if nothing else, it makes even a fast deck tie up 'Mechs and vehicles protecting their stockpile and other fragile assets.

| How about combining Cyranos and Nightshades with Sandhurst Royal Military Academy ?
But dont forget that, according to the DCI deck construction rules, only 10 VTOLs are allowed in a deck !
Because of this you should use Battle Armor Squads, LRM-Bulldogs, Hussars & revised Spiders which give you free deployments like the Cyrano too to fill your deck.
Other Mechs to fill such a deck, after you have used all possible units with free deployment, are the Assasin ASN-23, Atlas AS7-D, Awesome AWS-8Q, Centurion CN9-A, Cerberus MR-V2, Dervish DV-6M, Flea FLE-17, Javelin JVN-10N & War Dog WR-DG-02FC.
You will need Politics & Logistics for the 6 SRMA cards you have to put into this deck and Tactics for the VTOLs, Missions and Veteran Officers.
The following cards would fit nicely into a VTOL deck with SRMA and a lot of units with free deployment: Command Circuit, DropShip Site, Hidden Reserves, Open Supply Lines, Operations Liason, Primus Sharilar Mori, Specialized Project Team, Surprise Maneuvers, Tactical Advantage, Unnamed Sources & Veteran Officer.

| The honor for this type of deck belongs to the 1998 World Champion(s), as BOTH decks in the finals were nearly identical SRMA decks.
Personally i prefer to play my Smoked Jaguar deck, which is able to activate a Daishi in the 3rd round:
1st round: Logistigs ( + Battle Armor if you are the 2nd player )
2nd round: Mercant Caste + Dasishi B + Improved Construction Facilities ( with Mercant Caste )
3rd round: Double Overtime + Repair Facility ( with Mercant Caste ) + Battle Armor
...
( The 3 Resource counters in the 2nd & 3rd round go onto the Daishi B and the Double Overtime doubles these counters to a total of 12, enough to activate the Daishi B if you have Logistics and Assembly in play )

I like to try and use these sorts of cards because most people seem to ignore them. I need to redo my ComStar deck which had 2 Pintos hanging around to pop out and make my opponent nervous. I love those Pintos.

I've now made a ComStar VTOL deck and it probably isn't very nice. Haven't fully tested it yet, and it may need a bit of tweaking.
I'll post it up if anyone is interested (and probably even if they aren't
