I started this because I've had this thought in the back of my mind for some time.
All arguments about the Jihad aside, what is the WOB military doctrine?
By that I mean, what machines do they use, what are their tactics, how well trained are they, how powerful and what differences exist for the different periods of BT history, and so on and so forth.
Any ideas/thoughts/comments?

Up until TRO 3067 WoB was pretty much Comstar in excile. Running Comstar/Old Star League mechs.
After TRO 3067 means than have ALOT of new gear and the Mechs equiped to use it.
I would definately say they should have an edge in equipement, since alot of their designs are unknowns to the IS as far as being used before. I would also give them an edge in skill seeing as how their military was initially made up primarily of Turkayyid veterans.
As far as tatics I would look for them to make maximum use of their new electronics namely C3i and Narc-i. So massed fire, even from long range for their fire support units.
I would aslo expect them to be Mech heavy seeing as how they have tons of new Mech designs but I do not recall any new vehicle designs. This would be opposite of the Comstar Divisions which tend to be more conventionally minded with a higher percentage of vehicles and infantry assets.
Does WoB deploy much for BA assets? That is one thing I think they might be lacking, other than their special service PAL suits of course.

They have the production resources of Earth behind them. According to fluff in the TRO's that comes to at least 6 facilities. add in the Gibson complex and the Marik PA suits that they helped to develop. A year or two would allow them to get at least one suit facility on Earth built and running too. Earth would have a lot of production to build tank and other armored vehicles, the old nation states had at least 1 of these each, so say about 10 still working.
to put it simply: They scare me.
I would expect them to be mech and battle armor heavy with vehicles used as fire support and transport for the BA. Lots of mechanized infantry also.

I'd say from what I have read (and it's not enough), that after they took Earth, they got pretty heavy into new tech, like the stuff mentioned in TR 3067, the new PAL suits (can someone give me some fluff on these), and the fact that they are not above doing whatever it takes to get their ends met, even destroying the reputation of a highly respected mercenary unit, lies, deception, political/anarchial intrigue, terrorism. . .
Like has been said before, they scare me. But then, nobody likes a fanatic.
I'd say they probably run more 'mech heavy than ComStar, and heavy into new tech. Most of their armor assets would be more conventional though, since we've heard little of WoB unique designs.
In all,
May they rot in hell.

I think they would have a mix of units...some Old SLDF and some of the newer units...as well as some of their newer ubermechs etc...
As for their style...well it seems they go for a mix of hit and run to mass firepower to pin point attacks. Beyond that they are a tad uberized for my taste and given the current direction of the story line they have become something more then just a group to be a pain in the rear end for the main characters.
Setup would more then likely be just as ComStar's ComGuard was prior to the split and the Clan Wars. With Maybe some adjustments for the new times and tech they have seemed to pull out of thin air.

I'd imagine that up to the point of the Fall of Terra WOB used just about anything they could get their hands on. They probably field a lot of Marik designs like Trebuchets, Awesomes and Orions, as they spent the first ten years or so of their existence under the protection of House Marik, and of course they will have a decent number of vintage Star League machines brought by Com Guard defectors. They do have some unique designs, and I'm sure as they become more established they will rotate a lot of their older equipment into second-line units, but during the 3050s at least they are probably just trying to scrape by on whatever they can piece together.

As my neck of the woods has diddily squat for Battletech, do you happen to have the fluff and stats on PAL suits and any other goodies the WoB has?
