I just got the Complete Warrior sourcebook today...quick glance through makes it seem worth the $27 coverprice...it has some nice new primary classes, some new and newly revised prestige classes (although I dislike alot of the changes to the Bladesinger prestige class when compared to the one from the Races of Faerun sourcebook), and alot of other info...
Also out is the new version of the Draconomicon...didn't get it yet, but looking through it makes it look like an excellent sourcebook...worth the $40 coverprice, I'm not sure yet though...

I can't stand the Prestige Class idea.... Lets keep it simple......

I never understood the point of making 3rd edition. They already had a fine set of rules in 2nd edition, and all of the upgrades and rules variants you'd ever want. Why would I go out and buy hundreds of dollars worth of books just to cover the same ground I already paid hundreds of dollars to cover?

I've got to give you some props Ruger for that exceptionally well-argued bout with Chihawk on the subject of MWDA I'd have to say your introduction of Battleforce pretty much put it away. It's kind of a shame chihawk felt compelled to close that thread, (I wish I could close a thread every time I was losing an argument) but I guess when he saw MEX coming over the horizon to offer you support, he just wanted to cut his losses before it was too late.

Third edition has alot of things that just plain make more sense than they did in 2nd edition (what the hell was the point of level limits? And have you ever noticed how powerful a multi-class character was in second edition when compared to a single class character? And, if you have a good alignment, why would you want to be a fighter if you were going to be a warrior-type PC...a ranger made far more sense. Etc.)
3rd edition is simply a better game, IMHO...

I'm sure you could make a D&D game that was more logical...but I don't really care too much about the rules being logical, I just care about them working. As for the multi-class thing, I always figured the additional experience you had to earn to get all of that power made up for it.

Additional XP may seem like a heavy cost, but actually isn't. You'll notice that many multi-class combinations won't lag more than a couple of levels behind their single-class friends.
Not that I'm likely to trade my 2nd edition away for a new one.

The things I don't like about the third edition is that whoever play tested it, did not fully explore certain skill sets to the game.
There are skills and feats that are incredibly imbalancing. I think the DCs on the saving throws on alot of the spells are set far too low, especially in 3.5 where they lowered the lasting effects, and allow a reroll every round for the nasty effects.
I also hate what they did to the Bard.. Yes the 2nd edition Bard was overpowered. but the 3.0 and 3.5 edition Bard is only a support class that is just not alot of fun to play.
