Overview:
    During the course of development for the TDRII Earthwerks would receive an invitation to
    demonstrate their product in front of senior members of the FWLM. At the trial,
    representatives would inquire if the Thunderbolt II platform could support Command
    operations. Hasan, present for the demonstration would assure the officials that the
    Thunderbolt II design was as flexible a design as its forbear. Shortly following the
    completion of the (successful) trial, a formal request would be delivered from the FWLM to
    Earthworks for the development of a command variant of the TDRII. This would be done in the
    hopes of finding a suitable replacement to the BLR BattleMaster series whose domestic
    production line had also been lost with the fall of Keystone.  While reluctant to get away
    from the core concepts (reliability and affordability) of the Thunderbolt II, Hasan and his
    team would set about to design and produce the TDR-1SC.
    
    He would do this by freeing up tonnage through upgrading the light-fusion engine to an XL
    engine and replacing the three medium-VSP-lasers with three medium x-pulse lasers, while
    dropping a heatsink from the design. The er-small laser would be removed so the design team
    could take advantage of the TDRII?s spacious cockpit to install a complete command console.
    An advanced C3 boosted master computer system would be imported from the Draconis Combine
    for the mech, while an Angel ECM would be added to give the TDRII-1SC an additional layer of
    defense. Finally, there would be enough room left to upgrade the ER-PPC to a Heavy PPC. All
    of this advanced equipment (a lot of it imported) would cause the TDRII-1SC cost to balloon
    to double what the original TDRII-1S had cost, putting it out of reach of most customers.
    However, for those who could afford the mech, it would prove to be capable advanced
    electronics and command platform.
