Overview:
    Based in large part upon the SLDF Scorpion, the Heartvenom has become the totem BattleMech
    of Clan Goliath Scorpion after being exiled from the Clan Homeworlds in the War of Reaving.
    Although using extensive advanced technology, this medium weight design combines speed,
    mobility, maneuverability, armor, precision firepower, and endurance in a single distinct
    package.

Capabilities:
    Massing 55 tons, the Heartvenom--named for perhaps the most famous of the Goliath Scorpion
    Clusters, the 1st Cateran Cluster--matches the Stormcrow OmniMech in base land speed (65.8
    kilometers per hour walking and 97.2 kph running) and incorporates six jump jets for a total
    jump capability of 180 meters. An extra-light fusion engine saved enough weight to allow the
    design team to fit 10.5 tons of ferro-fibrous armor on the frame (for 100% of the maximum
    armor coverage available for a 55-ton quad) and the use of endo-steel internal structure
    saved even more tonnage for weapon systems.
    The Heartvenom would not be a true Clan Goliath Scorpion 'Mech without a targeting computer
    and precision energy weapons, so the designers included an ER PPC in a center-line mount
    (center torso). A two-ton targeting computer in the left torso gives this weapon the precise
    targeting capability that the Scorpions cherish so deeply. Despite their disdain for missile
    weapons, the Heartvenom design team wanted to pay homage to the original SCP-1N design.
    Instead of the single SRM-6 pack of the original, the Heartvenom mounts a nine-tube Advanced
    Tactical Missile (ATM) launcher in the right torso, alongside three tons of ammunition
    (seven salvoes of extended-range munitions, seven salvoes of standard, and seven salvoes of
    high explosive). The versatile ATM-9 provides an exceptional reach with the ER munitions,
    only matched by the Ultra AC-2 and exceeded by the LB-2X.  Although the weakest in damage of
    any ATM munition, the ER missiles provide the firepower of an old-school LRM-10 at extended
    ranges, even before considering the integral Artemis IV system.  The standard munitions have
    the range of an old-style large laser, but deal the same damage as an SRM.  The HE
    munitions, while having just the range of old Inner Sphere SRMs, each deal 50% more damage
    than the standard short-range missile warhead.
    Thirteen double heat sinks providing excellent overall heat dissipation capabilities. Even
    on a jumping alpha-strike, the Heartvenom generates just a bare minimum of excess overheat.

Deployment:
    Having just entered production at the start of the Wars of Reaving, very few Heartvenoms
    were constructed before the Scorpions were forced to flee the Homeworlds and forge their new
    Empire in Neuva Castile.  Information on the Scorpions and their equipment since the War of
    Reaving have been sketchy at best, making it impossible to confirm or deny whether or not
    the Heartvenom has resumed production in the Empire of the Scorpion.
    Although no reports on combat operations of the Heartvenom have reached the Inner Sphere,
    there have been several reports on actions within the Inner Sphere. Shortly after the Wars
    of Reaving began and communication was severed with the Homeworlds, a Scorpion DropShip
    arrived over Solaris VII. An old Union-C, heavily scarred by battle, it carried within its
    hull a Trinary of former Scorpion Warriors who had been Reaved due to their missions as
    Seekers in the Inner Sphere.
    These Warriors fled Clan space and made their way to the Game World, where they founded the
    Striking Scorpion Stables. Along with several Clan OmniMechs already familiar to the Solaris
    crowds, the Striking Scorpions brought with new conventional BattleMech designs, including a
    Heartvenom.
    This nimble quad, piloted by Star Commander Karen Scott, has become a favorite of the
    Solaris crowds, due to its speed, mobility, and heavy firepower.

Variants:
    No variants of the Heartvenom are known to exist at this time.  The entire 'Mech is such a
    tight design that any attempt at modifying the chassis suffers incredible difficulties.

Notable MechWarriors:
    Star Command Karen Scott is the pilot of the Heartvenom BattleMech belonging to the Striking
    Scorpion Stables on Solaris VII. An experienced Warrior with a reputation as a Seeker as
    well, Karen is known to keep several juvenile Goliath Scorpions in armor-glass tanks in her
    flat on Solaris. At 23 standard years, she is young for a seeker, but her skills in the
    cockpit of the Heartvenom are deadly and lethal.
    However, she has experienced several problems with interpersonal relationships and fitting
    into the culture on Solaris--three of her five last dates ended with Karen opening one of
    the tanks and allowing her pets to sting her suitor to death. So far, Tri-S (as the Striking
    Scorpion Stables are often referred to on Solaris) has been able to pay the local
    constabulary to overlook such events, but it is only a matter of time before her ill ease
    with life in the Inner Sphere becomes even more of problem.
    In the arena, however, Karen becomes a cold, analytical machine that ruthlessly uses her
    speed, mobility, and firepower to dismember her opponents before delivering a coup-de-grace.
    Her rise in the Solaris standings threatens to exceed that of Justin Xiang prior to the 4th
    Succession War, and she has been proclaimed as a possible contender for this year's Grand
    Championship.
