Overview:
    Ground Zero's first attempt at a truly modular machine actually took place during the waning
    of the Star League. The original intent was to create a machine that could be easily
    maintained and repaired, while upgrades and battlefield replacements could be performed with
    simplicity instead of a long involved operation. While the Reliant never made it to full
    production, its blueprints and initial testing records are still in the GZT database and are
    currently in use as a tool for Ground Zero to eventually create their own true OmniMech.

Capabilities:
    At first glance, the reliant seems in exercise in excess. It initially has 10 double
    heatsinks, but a sustained fire rate or alpha strike generates more than twice the amount of
    heat it can dissipate. But heat was not the designers main concern. The Reliants strengths
    are not readily visible in its weapons load or battlefield performance. The mech's engineers
    were going for something that had not been done before, and had they succeeded, history
    would likely have had a very different telling. The Reliant was one of the first mechs in
    dewvelopment to utilize a modular composition. The arm andmost of the torso weapons have a
    "Hot Swap" approach in that all it takes is the release of several clamps and plugs to
    remove the module. A ready replacement can be installed just as easily. Most of the
    electronics and armor are also constructed with a modular design. During tests, the Reliant
    performed fairly well against other GZT test designs, but scored incredible marks when
    battlefield repairs were underway. A team of techs could easily repair or replace components
    and perform upgrades to the Reliant in half the time of conventional designs. The only
    downside at the time was that all modules had to be GZT produced. Armor patches had to be
    preformed by Ground Zero and standard patches took longer to mount on the Reliant. GZT was
    working on a way to use non proprietary armor and weapons when war broke out and all
    research on the Reliant ceased. With the current technology level and access to salvaged
    Clan and Inner Sphere omni Ground Zero hopes to ressurrect the Reliant or introduce a new
    design utilizing omni technology.

Deployment:
    The Reliant was never produced for deployment. There were a dozen prototypes created, and
    all but three are accounted for. One remains intact in Ground Zero's Taurian facilities
    while eight were known to have been destroyed or scrapped over the centuries.

Variants:
    No variants were ever recorded. It is assumed that Ground Zero had several variant weapon
    modules created containing various missile and laser weapons, as well as additional
    heatsinks if needed.
