Overview:
The Lyran television show "Fist of the Alliance" has become the nation's most popular show
due, in no small part, to the appeal of this massive, menacing mech. In the show, maverick
LAAF mechwarrior Jack Stone single-handedly wages war against pirates, clanners, and
    unlikely rogue mechwarriors.

Originally the show' writers assumed that mech battles would be filmed using a combination
of models and computer animation, but a young executive producer at Alliance Productions
was able to convince investors to finance construction of an actual working version of Jack
Stone's pride and joy: The Lyran Fist.

Filming using actual mechs allowed the show to bill itself as 'real', and its popularity has
skyrocketed. The immense initial cost of creating a new mech was recouped in the first year
from sales of toy models, and sales for shirts, hats, lunchboxes, computer games, comic
books, and similar and similar knickknacks have been phenomenal. A feature film is
scheduled for release later in the year, and applications for mechwarrior academies have
    reached an all-time high.

Alliance Productions managed to secure an official declaration from the LAAF stating that
the Lyran Fist was "combat capable", but no official units have yet expressed interest in
acquiring copies of the design. Several petitions are currently circulating in the Alliance
demanding that the military purchase and use this mech, but none have been successful so
    far.

Capabilities:
Although not capable of some of the more exotic abilities pictured in the show (for
instance, the mech is incapable of flight or performing backflips, nor can it spit acid from
it's head mounted flamer), the Lyran Fist is a fully-functional mech. The slow speed and
small ammuntion bins preclude actual combat, but are not considered drawbacks for film and
PR work. Several alternate ammo types are used that include multi-colored tracer rounds,
exploding sparkle shells, and whistling smoke rounds. Many of these shells are essentially
harmless, but appear dramatically destructive when used against specially prepared targets.

Deployment:
Currently the Lyran Fist is housed on the lot of Alliance Productions. In between film
shoots the mech travels frequently for parades, publicity stunts, and public appearances.
It never fails to attract a large crowd, and has even started to appear at political rallies
    with no obvious commerical tie-in.

Notable MechWarriors:
Jack Stone: Although he is the most famous 'mechwarrior' in Steiner space, Jack is actually
a fictional character played by actor Frank McPhereson. The ruggedly handsome, mustachioed
McPhereson has no military experience with battlemechs, and relies on a small cadre stunt
pilots to maneuver the mech during filming. His catchphrase ("Fear The Fist!") can be heard
repeated in schoolrooms and on playgrounds across the Alliance.
