Overview:
    Walking off from Luthien Armor Work's Luthien plant, this Mauler is a new design being
    retrofitted to accept Omni-tech, as part of the DCMS ongoing campaign to refit its mechs
    with C3 systems and Omni-tech.
    
    
    
    

Capabilities:
    Unique to this design is that the mech mounts 2 basic equipment regardless of all
    configurations. A Matabushi Citizen C3 slave unit and a Matabushi Guardian ECM unit. The C3
    slave ensures the mech will have always have a place in a C3 squad while the ECM unit has be
    finely tuned as an ECCM unit which can prevent hostile ECM from disrupting the C3 slave
    unit.
    
    
    
    Firepower-wise the mech is similar to its parent design. 2 arm mounted Victory Nickel Alloy
    Large ER Lasers serve as its main energy battery. The dual lasers often bleed excess heat in
    its forefather, thus 2 double strength freezers were placed in each arm to ensure proper
    function and cooling of the lasers.
    
    
    
    Ballistic and missile weaponary comes in the form of dual Shigunga 15 Long range missile
    racks and a pair of Imperator Automatic Weaponary 40mm Ultra autocannon 2s. The missiles are
    supplied with 16 reloads each while each cannon feeds from 1 magazine of ammuniton located
    at the legs.
    
    
    
    The AC ammunition is stored in forty five, 4 shot clips. Each of the UAC-2s, are capable of
    emptying out two clips or a burst of 8 shells in under 0.3 seconds when firing in
    Ultra-mode.
    
    This means that a single AC in Ultra-mode is capable of firing at a impressive rate of about
    1600 rounds a minute. A computer controlled capacitor limits the awesome rate of fire into
    bursts with a 1 second cooldown, to limit ammo expenditure.
    
    
    
    Although this effectively produces the firepower of 4 autocannon 2s, there is a chance a
    ammo clip might snag when being loaded into the cannon and thus jamming the weapon. The
    inherent ammunition design is partly at fault here since the ammunition is simply not stored
    in a belt but in clips. But belted ammo is also a problem itself since the ammo is stored in
    the legs; Any leg movement might even lodge the ammo belt when the mech is firing on the
    move. The heat generated from the rapid firing mechanism also quickly cause metal parts in
    the weapon to expand as well which leads to even more jams in the future if the weapon is
    fired extensively over a long period of time.
    
    
    
    However, despite the risk of jamming, the switch to just 2 Ultra Autocannons instead of 4
    normal cannons certainly have their merits. Also carrying only 1 ton of ammo, ensures the
    UAC2s will be long empty before a shell jams the weapon.
    
    
    
    With greatly freed tonnage, the Mauler now mounts much more armor than its predecessor
    weighing at an impressive 17 tons of armor which help keep the vulnerable XL engine safe.
    
    The mech is also alot more heat efficient now and no longer fears the rapid heat buildup its
    predecessor often suffers from.
    
    
    
    The addition of the ECM also offers another layer of protection as well. It disrupts the
    deadly Targetting Computer that is mounted on the Davions Templar Omnimech which is usually
    a source of worry for most non-ECM equipped mechs. Other safety features include CASE at the

Deployment:
    Currently assigned to the Genyosha regiments for evaluation, it remains to be seen how
    popular it would be in the predominately Clan-tech Genyosha regiment.
    
    
    
    The mech still does have 1 thing going for it though; its weapon pods and fire control
    systems are fully capable of accomodating standard DCMS weaponary and even Clan Tech without
    re-wiring. This will certainly be very popular for units that have Clan Tech but lack the
    Clan Omni-mechs.
