Overview:
In the age of the Second Succession War, spare parts and properly trained techs were hard to
come by, so 'mechs were needed that were able to be deployed for extended periods with a
minimum of maintenance. The Hyperion is just such a 'mech.
Capabilities:
Designed around the motto "simpler is better", the Hyperion is a field technicians wet
dream. Its main weapons are mechanical, avoiding problems related to the aquisition and
replacement of complex electronic circuitry. The GM Marauder chassis is roomy and, having
been designed to support a machine 15 tons heavier than the Hyperion, holds up extremely
well to prolongued wear.
House Davion is the only successor state with the ability to manufacture the Hyperion, as
the base chassis is produced in the General Motors factory on Davion-controlled Kathil
The Hyperion's armor protection is one of its best features, as it sports more than 11 tons
of Valiant Lamellor plating, more than some assault 'mechs! This staying power has become a
hallmark of the Hyperions performance on the battlefield, holding or steadily advancing the
line while taking withering amounts of punishment.
The Federated Autocannon, the same weapon mounted on the Enforcer, is a proven, reliable
weapon. Housed inside an armored sleeve on the 'mechs right arm, it is well protected should
the mechwarrior choose to use it as a club in melee.
The Federated 10-Shot Missile System, mounted in a ring around the left hand, constitutes
the Hyperion's long-range punch, making an attempt to keep the Hyperion at arms length a
dicey proposition for any mechwarrior.
The 'mechs lasers give it punishing firepower at close range in both the front arc, covered
by twin Chiscomp 39 Medium Lasers, and the rear arc, with a pair of Chiscomp 32 Small
lasers.
Deployment:
The Hyperion is still widely deployed in the line regiments of the Federated Suns, and it is
rumored that the Lyran Commonwealth's Coventry Metalworks has made a deal with General
Motors to lease production for an indefinite period. The 'mechs ease of maintenance has made
it a favorite among mercenaries and periphery states. There are even reports of Hyperions in
the service of pirate groups.

Comment:
3025 Hyperion looks much better than 3053 incarnation, but it's just better armored (and heavier) Centurion. Small lasers and heat sink can be replaced with two medium lasers (one rear facing) for better short range firepower, but otherwise there cannot be done much more.
