Overview:
    The Dark Adder is a newly identified Goliath Scorpion light omnimech.  Pleased with the
    general performance of the Adder omnimech, but wanting more speed, the Goliath Scorpions
    completely retooled the Adder omnimech design, using all of the lightest components
    available to clan engineers.
    
    
    
    The itinerant lives of Goliath Scorpion warrior/shamans shaped this design in several ways.
    The Prime and several other configurations are equipped only with energy weapons, and
    ballistic weapons are generally limited to ammo efficient choices.  The high speed of the
    'mech was also set with the needs of a wandering warrior in mind.  The engineers had
    originally planned on developing a medium omnimech, but one warrior involved with the
    process pointed out that it would be easier to book passage on merchant and other non-Clan
    Dropships with a lighter 'mech, which could fit into a smaller cargo bay than the fifty ton
    machine originally envisioned.  That the 'mech is relatively light, yet satisfies a long
    list of design requirements, is a testiment to the precision of Goliath Scorpion
    engineering.
    
    
    
    Items which might nomally be mounted directly to the chassis of some omnimechs are attached
    in pods on the Dark Adder, in order to maximize the flexibility inherent in omnimech
    technology.  The chassis carries the bare number of heat sinks, and no electronics.

Capabilities:
    The Dark Adder is fast and carries fifteen tons of pod space, making is capable of carrying
    out a wide variety of missions.  The Prime variant was developed as a light cavalry 'mech.
    Sporting a strong array of energy weapons and a targeting computer the Prime is capable of
    conducting damaging attacks at high speed, although the pilot must be careful to avoid
    overtaxing his heat sinks.  One medium laser faces to the rear, in order to counter
    elemental attacks from that direction.
    
    
    
    An extensive array of electronics and anti-personnel pods round out the Dark Adder Prime's
    capabilities, making it a difficult target to ambush.

Deployment:
    Little is known of the Dark Adder at present.  Explorer Corps and DCA units operating in the
    Deep Periphery have been advised to keep a watch for this design.  Wolf Clan Fenris pilots
    are also keeping a close eye out for this design.  The two 'mechs have similar performance
    profiles, and the Wolves are eager to see how the machines match up in battle.  If they are
    impressed, they may consider making the Goliath Scorpions an offer for the new design.  The
    Dark Adder's light weight makes them considerably less expensive than a Fenris.  The Jade
    Falcons are naturally infuriated by the Goliath Scorpion's scientist caste's assertion that
    the Dark Adder trumps the much heavier Black Lanner design.  Particularly satisfying for the
    Goliath Scorpions has been the design's perfect battlefield record against the Ice Hellion
    clan, the self-proclaimed masters of light 'mech warfare.
