Overview:
    As demanded by the 'Mother Doctrine' since 2380 the Terran Hegemony was able to keep its
    technological edge over the other states of the Inner Sphere throughout most of its
    existence.
    Although fielding a lot of mech-types their neighbors also had in their forces, the Hegemony
    equipped their mechs with high-tech items unobtainable to their rivals.
    
    As soon as the SLDF was built up after the foundation of the Star League the venerable
    Locust, serving the Hegemony's forces since 2499, got a technological upgrade. The first
    mechs reaching their units in 2573.

Capabilities:
    The Locust was a fast, rugged but cheap recon mech and the engineers wanted to leave it at
    that. To enhance its survivability the little mech was wrapped in the brand new
    ferro-fibrous armor. While increasing the over-all protection only by 8% the pilots found
    the 12,5% increase in cockpit armor very reassuring. Even the secondary weaponry of the mech
    now was protected by enough armor to withstand the blast of a medium laser or an AC/5 burst.
    Another feature to potentially save the mech was the reallocatíon of the ammunition: reduced
    to half a ton and replaced into the right torso it was wrapped in a CASE.
    The rest of the mech was left untouched.

Deployment:
    The SLDF and the Hegemony's own forces used this Mech as their main recon unit until the
    Mongoose appeared in 2660.

Variants:
    In 2621 the LCT-TH2 model came out of the production lines, dropping the machine guns and
    its ammunition for a pair of the new Blankenburg small pulse lasers negating the need of
    ammo-resupply and making it better suited for deep-penetration reconnaissance.
