To celebrate the turn of the century, Alisa Wolfstein (Founder of the Lyran
Commonwealth-based organisation Arctic Silence) decided to spend some of her private funds
to upgrade a Battlemaster for use as her private assault 'Mech, replacing the rusting
Banshee she had been using previously for the role. She had recently purchased a venerable
BLR-1G (which had been salvaged from a Star League Cache located in the Periphery in the
3050s) and proceeded to have the chassis stripped of all its equipment (which was getting on
for 350 years old). Once only the skeleton remained untouched, her special team of assembled
Arctic Silence engineers set to work.
The first item that was added to the 'Mech was a Clan-Tech 340 XL Engine, providing double
the weight savings of an Inner Sphere Light Fusion Engine whilst taking up the same amount
of space. Next, a special one-off hand-held piece was commisioned to look exactly the same
as that found on the original Battlemasters, in which two Large Pulse Lasers were installed.
The Left Torso-mounted SRM-6 was upgraded to a Streak SRM-6 with one ton of CASE II
protected ammunition supplying the launcher. The rearward-facing Medium Lasers of the BLR-1G
were removed, and the four forwards-firing ones were replaced with four Clan-Tech ER Small
Lasers, which provide the same damage as the original Medium Lasers for less heat and half
the tonnage, but they do have a more limited range. This was not an issue for Alisa, because
she was intending to use her upgraded Battlemaster as an urban brawler and command 'Mech. To
vastly improve the capabilities of these weapons, the lasers were linked into an advanced
Targeting Computer. An Improved C3 Computer was installed in the 'Mech's Centre Torso to
enhance its role as a command 'Mech (Arctic Silence do not use standard C3 networks; they
reverse-engineered the C3i technology off of salvaged Word of Blake units at the end of the
Jihad). To allow Alisa to cope with the high heat output of her energy-based weapons
configuration 17 Double Heat Sinks were installed in the 'Mech, 13 of them are integral to
the engine. Wanting more mobility to aid in navigating the confined streets of an urban
battlefield, four jump jets were installed - a first for a Battlemaster. To provide greater
stability, these were split between the side torsos and legs. After utilising Light Ferro
Fibrous technology to achieve almost the maximum armour coverage on an 85-ton Battlemech,
Alisa's engineers were left scratching their heads, wondering what to do with the half a ton
of weight they had left over. Since the main weapons were both installed in the right arm of
the 'Mech, they decided to armour the Right Shoulder Actuator to prevent the arm and its two
Large Pulse Lasers from being blown off by a critical hit.
The 'Mech has performed admirably for the duration of Alisa's career - in fact, it was her
'Mech of choice for her last battle in 3127 before she retired from the life of a
Mechwarrior for good. She has continued to command Arctic Silence as a wise and
knowledgeable leader well into the second half of the 32nd Century, albeit from a more
    diplomatic approach.
