    Riflemen have long been known as a good anti-aircraft platform, but have never had the
    endurance to last for long in that role. Whether because of a lack of armor, lack of ammo,
    or poor heat endurance, many Riflemen suffer in extended combat.

    This particular 'Mech had its engine heavily damaged in combat, and it could not be
    repaired. However, the only available replacement was a much smaller GM 180 model from a
    damaged Blackjack. While this reduced the top speed of the 'Mech, it also freed up a lot of
    mass, which went into a slight increase in armor, and a different weapon layout.
    One of the original large lasers was destroyed, but the second could be made functional. It
    was removed from the arm, and placed in a center torso mount. Both of the original
    autocannons were also destroyed, so the repair techs replaced them with a quartet of light
    75 mm type 5 autocannons. Although they did not have the range of the original cannons, they
    were still capable of reaching within 90 meters of the original guns, and use specialty
    ammunition. Knowing this, the techs provided two very generous sized ammunition bays, each
    capable of holding 3 tons of ammunition, which allows for a large amount of specialty ammo.
    To help protect the 'Mech from attacks, a half ton of armor was added to provide additional
    protection to the arms and side torsos. Each ammunition bay is also now protected by CASE.
    There has been some consideration into increasing protection by changing the standard plate
    for standard or heavy ferro-fibrous armor, but this has not been attempted as yet.
