Originally dubbed "The Wall" simply because the 'Mech with it's gliding surfaces folded
behind it's back resembled a massive block of granite sanding in the hangar, but the pilots
have started to call it "The Magic Carpet" after the first serie of jump tests. Official PR
move to give it a moniker of a Terran general of old didn't stick much. SWL-2A-MB is a
prototype/technology demonstrator built by Defiance Industries in cooperation with the
Diamond Sharks in an attempt to introduce the partial wing to the LAAF, but due to the
Blakist attack on Hesperus II most prototypes had been destroyed along with much of the
project documentation. There were two fully assembled demonstrators mothballed and taken
    off-world to classified location however.

The Magic Carpet is actually a fitting nickname for the 'Mech. It's partial wing doesn't
take the usual form of two wings attached to 'Mech's humanoid body back. Rather whole
surface of it's thick armour front is shaped to provide lift creating a much more compact
shape not entirely unlike Kuritan Slayer aerospace fighter. Additional control surfaces
attached to various places along with a massive array of improved Jump jets provide the SWL
with incredible maneuverability in atmosphere in spite of having only a mediocre ground
mobility. This arrangement also allowed for substainial armour coverage of normally delicate
surfaces. This all however came at the cost of armament which due to cramped internal space
and limited tonnage has to do with heat-intensive energy weapons that offer better damage to
weight ratio than most other weapons. The 'Mech still looks a bit undergunned, but it was
deemed enough for a demonstrator that was not meant for real combat.

There is no evidence of SWL-2A-MB ever being used in combat, but the prototype was run
through a series of competitive tests against Spider and Phoenix-Hawk battlemechs for
demontration of JJ maneuverbility, where it passed most expectations.
