    Though the Dragon from Luthien Armor Works lost the design contest to replace the aging
    SHD-1R Shadow Hawk against the upgraded SHD-2H, the Star League intelligence service  kept
    an eye on that design as the Dragon began marching into the Combines privat army from 2754
    In 2761 a complete set of blueprints fell into Star League hands and were handed to Krupp
    Armaments Works for evaluation.
    After some work the Krupp designers were assured that this Mech could be an effectiv
    fighting machine if equipped with the Star Leagues superior technology.
    Though advisors dissuaded Lord Cameron from taking a mech into production that was exclusive
    property of another member-state Stefan Amaris had enough influence on the first Lord to
    make him think otherwise. Amaris saw the new Dragon as another tool for his future plans.
    In early 2766 Krupp began to produce the DRG-1TH in its Bochum production plant.

    Krupp designer thought that the original Dragon lacked heavy firepower. So they replaced the
    Kuritan small caliber standard AC with a powerfull Lubalin LB10-X that was also able to fire
    special cluster rounds. The rest of the forward firing weapons were left unchanged despite
    using different models: a Holly LRM-10 rack and a Krupp Model 12 medium laser.
    The rear-firing medium laser was dropped in favor of a Maxell XT small pulse laser to better
    keep infantry at bay. CASE was also incorporated to protect the mech (and of course the
    pilot) from total destruction in case of an ammo explosion.
    To free up tonnage for the massive main gun an endo-steel chassis and ferro-fibrous armor
    were chosen.

    The production of the DRG-1TH was slowed down by delivery shortages of the LB10-X as soon as
    the Amaris coup in December 2766 brought turbulences throughout the Inner Sphere, so that
    only few mechs reached the forces stationed on Terra as General Kerensky hit Terra in 2777.
    As SLDF forces attacked the german province to bring the vast industries of the Ruhr-area
    under control most DRG-1TH vanished in the onslaught despite showing good performance.
    Almost all Terran Hegemony Dragons were stationed with Amaris' forces on Terra itself.

    Because of the shortage of LB-X cannons Krupp experimented with a standard AC/10 model and a
    prototype with double heat sinks and two PPCs. That prototypes were send into battle too and
    vanished like their "relatives".
