    This design exists solely because of the revolt against the PNT-C and PNT-10K variants.
    Since the "new" PNT-9K has a C3 Slave it needs a master unit so this ancient Mech was given
    new life.
    This variant is a saving grace to older MechWarrior of the Combine who remember the days
    when the Panthers were god's of the Light class and the sword of the Dragon. This is a
    chance to rebuild the dominance of both the Whitworth and the Panther forging a new future

    It has a C3 master, and its LRM load out has been crippled but the units that receive it
    just load different types of ammo for the 2 remaining launchers.
    The pair of Medium Lasers, and the 2 Streak SRM 2s give the Mech a chance in close for a
    city defense like the trio of Panthers it would be escorting. Usually if a unit gets a hold
    of BAP, or a Guardian ECM unit it removes the PNT-9K's center torso Streak SRM 2 rack and
    adds it in. Further adding to the impressive city defense capabilities that the Panther
    Light Mech is known for.

    For every 2 or 3 Panthers refit to the 9K standard, the unit must also ship one of their
    ancient barely functional Whitworths which almost every combine Garrison unit has in too
    many numbers as the front line units suck all the new and decent gear to the main lines.
    It has proved to be an advantage as both the trio of Panthers and the Whitworth proved vital
    in the defense of a city, successfully using a ton of Thunder rounds for the twin LRM
    launchers in the Whitworth forced the opposing medium raiding lance into killing zones where
    the Panthers just demolished them.
    The four pilots involved were all awarded their Mechs as personal units for their actions in
    that defense.
