Comment: Actually, this is a pretty fair book. I know, everyone is saying "oh, you can find the miniatures rules and stuff someplace else". True, but i seem to recall at least one source having two different scales for gridless battletech. At least, now, everything is in one spot, so I dont have to lug four books around just to pin down one rule.
The paint schemes section, i think, is more helpful than some of the color inserts on the various Field Manuals. I dont know about anyone else, but some of those are very difficult to make out. I dont have the exact book in front of me (storage), but some of the pictures were very blurry and made identifying the colors almost impossible.

A pretty fair book for someone just starting out with battletech, and a very useful book for someone looking to paint their miniatures.

Comment: Hmm. Well. What can I say?

As a long-time terrain-over-mapsheets player, I'd have to say it was so-so. Good for newbies, and it did clarify a few things. The large-scale and MWDA sections were informative. But most of it either already exists elsewhere, or is just fluff.

As a long-time terrain maker, the terrain building section was again, good for newbies, but nothing spectacular. I learned a little, but I saw a few things I prefer to do differently. It does beat the Battletech Compendium's miniatures and terrain section, though.

The artwork was good. Pretty book, but nothing revolutionary.

Comment: I have to agree with the previous reviewer.

The book is basically a compendium of pictures of miniatures. As a rule book, it only has a few pages worth of needed material.

I give it a higher rating because it is good for the newbie of the game as it helps them design their own map and allows them to see a good number of paint jobs.

Comment: As a 'rule book', this is a very disappointing item. The normal miniatures rules are easily found in other sources. Though it does include 'large scale' or 'quick play' rules that are suppose to help speed up a larger game, but again, disappointing as it fills all of about 1-2 pages worth of this book. The book also includes another set of short rules on how to use MWDA figures in a Battletech Miniatures game as well as how to construct your own terrain. The bulk of this book mostly just contains pictures show casing the paint jobs of various figures and terrain by various artists or just pictures of mock battles using miniatures. If you want rules on how to play a game, you're likely better with the Master Rule book. If you just want to see pictures of miniatures and terrain, this book is for you.
