An update to a project I undertook a year ago. The Deathsteed is an attempt to create a vehicle that can go 1 on 1 with a Battlemech. The key pieces of tech are the Armored Motive System, the Ferro-Lamellor armor, and the Fuel Cell Engine.
the Armored Motive System greatly reduces the severity and frequency in which the vehicle suffers immobilizing damage by offering a -2 mod on all rolls on the Motive Systems Damage table thus requiring a 10+ to affect movement. Test models in Megamek rarely saw a vehicle with this equipment becoming immobilized before its death.
the Ferro-Lamellor armor neutralizes the danger of LB-X guns, TACs, and greatly improves the durability by reducing the overall damage taken from all weapon strikes. Even at just 24 points of forward armor, the Deathsteed was able to last significantly longer then other vehicles of its class.
the Fuel Cell Engine is lighter per rating then a comparable Fusion Engine on a vehicle do to the engine shielding increase. Only a LFE, XL, or XXL is lighter; however, all of these options increase the base cost by 4 or 5 times that of a fuel cell. While I could improve the performance even more by using a Clan XL part of my concept was an inexpensive armored tank. The fuel cell unlike an ICE still counts as an energy producing engine and requires no energy converters for Gauss and energy weapons (non-chemical), but it only provides a single free heat sink. I was able to maintain a decent vehicle speed with this engine.
The MiPL is fixed as both an unlimited fire weapon and as the key anti-infantry defense.
Another piece of standard equipment on the Deathsteed is the NOVA CEWS which acts as an ECM (limited), LBAP, and a C3i (limited). I didn't lock it in as base equipment to allow for changes. A star of these can link together 3 at a time but can do this semi-dynamically, so it can pack even though its designed to go 1v1.
iATM was used extensively in this iteration rather then a StSRM4 and LRM10 do to its flexibility in ranges, but also because iATM acts like a streak launcher no matter the munition used (ST, HE, ER). It means that those iATM3s can do full damage at each range: 3 at 16 to 27 hexes (ER), 6 at 10 to 15 hexes, and 9 at 1 to 9 hexes.
The rest of the weapons are fairly standard choices. Gauss for punch, LPL for range and efficiency, Chemical Lasers to prevent the need for heat sinks, and LTag as a space user with potential function.
Side note: the missile boat variant initially had 2 iATM/12s w/ 5t ammo but i had failed to up the cargo tonnage for the extra 5 tons i had added to the design. I broke down and went cheesy by using 8 iATM/3s instead.

I believe that the XL versions of the LPL and ERPPC as in error do to not tracking the LAMS heats.
