==Overview:==
Bitter over losing so much of their nation to the Word of Blake, the Dracon
Combine had just one thing on its collective mind when rebuilding after its
liberation: "Never again." 

Making matters worse in the minds of the Combine leadership, three key
industrial planets - Nirasaki, Quentin, and Deiron - were officially ceded 
the Terran Hegemony during the crisis to speed the process of both getting 
factories up and running again and providing the Hegemony forces with the
machines and manpower needed to fight off the Blakist forces. Although the
Hegemony has been more than willing to allow those three planets - and the
others carved out from Combine space during the first waves of liberation -
the right of self-determination in order to decide whether or not they wish
rejoin the Combine, the nation is not going to wait around to see which way
the planets will decide to swing and has "requested" that the companies
located on those three planets consider establishing factories squarely wit
Combine space. 

But even then, the designers at Luthien Armor Works noted, this process wou
still take precious time. Instead, they needed to have an updated machine
operational with all speed if they were ever to rebuild the Combine militar
in time to repel any future invasions. To this end, the decision was made t
begin work on a mech design that would come to be known as the Noble Dragon

==Capabilities:==
During the design process, the design team took the schematics for an origi
1N Dragon and started from there. First and foremost was a redesign of the 
and gyro structure using input provided by Hegemony engineers during their
brief assignment to LAW as part of the effort to get the facility operation
again. 

From there, the designers took stock of both the modern battle environment 
what they felt would be needed years (if not decades) down the road. With o
last bit of help from the Hegemony engineers before their departure, the
chassis was further redesigned to support Endo Steel construction, an XL
engine, CASE, and double heat sinks. Although this would require a fair amo
of internal space, it would also free up tonnage for use elsewhere. 

An all-too-common refrain from Dragon and Grand Dragon pilots during the Ji
was that against the onslaught of Blakist forces, they often found themselv
fighting solo against larger units; even with the large reserves of
ammunition, their bins still tended to run dry, creating a dangerous
situation. As a nod to this and the fact that the mech's job as a brute was
now effectively obsolete, the arm-mounted autocannon was replaced with an E
PPC, allowing both range and punch without worries for ammunition. In
addition, a third medium laser was installed in the torso and a small laser
was installed in the head. 

Another set of complaints from the Jihad indicated that in the rare instanc
wherein the pilots did not fight alone, it was all too common for the pilot
who were generally senior NCOs or even lower-level officers - to have to ta
command of whatever forces gathered around them. To support this, a full EL
suite was installed, including a C3 command computer in the left torso, an 
suite in the right torso, and an active probe in the left arm. Not only wou
this allow a Noble Dragon pilot the ability to tap into and lead a C3 netwo
the designers were able to duplicate the effect seen on the Black Knight an
tie the probe's laser into the medium laser.

The missiles and the machine gun represented a fair amount of debate among 
design team, who were trying to be responsive to the need for more energy
weapons but also concerned with the mech's overall heat levels. The lone LR
10 was replaced with an MRM 10 and an LRM 5, allowing both greater tactical
flexibility and an overall increase in damage potential. The machine gun,
meanwhile, gave the mech increased defense against battle armor and infantr


Although the Noble Dragon does have a weakness in that it can potentailly r
fairly hot, the end result is a machine that can now not only engage target
at all ranges but also do a fair amount of damage, either by itself or as p
of a network of other mechs.
