I'm starting to think the (-4) is in place of the compared rolls...might have to ask on CBT to get the official answer.

Good idea, the Precentor Martial should have an official answer. I would think that in playing the game, even if you just went with the -4 for immobile you would hit most of the time anyway.

You know what I mean Chihawk, like at the cons, roll the dice first, "yeah that looks high enough"

Well, just to throw my two cents in here. In my opinion, you still compare the two skills. After all, let's use an extreme example here. If you're charging me and have an 8 pilot and I have a normal 5. It doesn't matter if I'm immobile or not, you just downright suck and will be harder to hit me.

However, I have been known to be wrong in the past.

But the pilot skill comparison is your ability to move out of the way vs my ability to react to your "dodge"...and if you can't "dodge" why compare rolls?

Based on game mechanics I'm thinking you still compare rolls, but logic says you probably shouldn't.

I'm going to ask the PM when that forum reopens.

They don't, but you could make a logical and an illogical arguement for both sides

Hence the problem...

Even if you have no ability to dodge, a mech who is charing and trying to DFA still has to compensate for overshoot, and an ultra-greenie probaly has no idea about that.

That's what the to-hit number is about

As either the attacker or defender a green pilot would have difficulty based on pilot comparison...but my Q is is there still a comparison.

And for that I think a post on the PM forum on CBT is where I'm headed...

Here's MY question.

Why on Earth are you doing a DFA on a helpless and immobile mech in the first place?

Think of the SALVAGE, man!

Gaaaaah.

think of the OWNAGE

hell, sometimes i put machine gun ammo in my ct and head crits just to eliminate the salvage possibility. Even if the pilot would've survived, he failed. And death is the greatest failure.

Salvage is only important in a campaign game.

What happens when you're playing double-blind? You might be charging (on purpose or not) an immobile mech and not know it until youy arrive at your declared hex.

Double-Blind? Aie. We tried that a few times, and it was just a monsterous mess.

I'd love to try it again with mroe experienced peeps, but, locally? Not happening.

OD, do it as a PBeM. It would probably be the easiest way. After a blind movement phase you could relay to your players who they can now see, and who might have passed through their LOS, in order to get their fire orders for that turn.
