After reading Inner Sphere redesign after Inner Sphere redesign, I thought it might be fun to revamp some old and familiar Clan mechs as sort of personal challenge to myself. Wink

Now in these revamps, I took some liberties with improving the base chassis. Namely, making sure the chassis had an XL engine, Ferro, Endo, close to max armor as possible, and (depending on the needs of the chassis) an engine upgrade or downgrade. For the Nova, I decided to give it an engine upgrade, as it was a medium chassis. 8)

Pretty simple upgrade for the prime variant. Removing 4 lasers for more heatsinks allowed for one more laser to fire without heat issues. Combined with the increase in speed and armor, allows for a solid medium mech.

Rounding out the design is an ECM suite to guard against Artemis IV, Narcs, Streaks, and Inner Sphere tactics. Wink

For this variant, I decided a bigger AC would be a nice addition to give to the mech, justifying the removal of the unnecessary backup weapons. With the base having two less heatsinks, I had enough tonnage to give the AC two rounds of ammo, plenty for trials and lightning raids. 8)

For this variant, not only did I want to give the Gauss rifle more ammo, but I also wanted to give it a better backup array of weapons. So I stripped the srm and the small pulse laser for a trio of ER medium lasers. With the base chassis being two heatsinks less than the standard, I fit in the extra ton of ammo, and an ECM suite for protection. Wink

This variant changed the most, as I didn't have the space to support as many heavy medium lasers as the standard. Keeping four of the lasers in the left arm, I exchanged the other arm for one from the A variant to create a better heat managed design with a bit of long range punch. Wink

Ah, this one was fun! Very Happy The extra tonnage saved from the base chassis allowed for a LOT more machine guns. Twisted Evil

Surprisingly, I still had enough tonnage for an ECM suite. Since this was an urban design, I thought an ECM suite would be a good idea to have (with streaks running rampant). Otherwise, I have an alternate version with four more machine guns. Rolling Eyes

For this 'Mech I'll rise one question. What did you want to achieve? Respectively what did you want to achieve, that couldn't be achieved by just making a different configuration of the Storm Crow (Ryoken)? The same would actually apply to your Mad Dog (Vulture) and Nova Cat.

Aside from that what program do you use for creation of those record sheets?

He is using the non-official Solaris Skunk Works mech maker program. It is a free program that was done up in to response to the issue with Rick not having HMP6 out and folks wanting to play with the new toys now instead of waiting for HMP6. Or he is using the online computer game Mega Mek to make the mechs.

What I'm trying to achieve is to see what some of the watered down Clan mechs (and their variants) look like at their best, with a possible engine upgrade/downgrade and other touches of my own. Kind of like my own version of the MK 1 omnis. Wink

Besides I'm working on the Nova (Black Hawk) and it's variants here. It would defeat my purpose if I just took a Stormcrow and modified that. When I get to it, I'll look at its variants and determine its needs. Rolling Eyes

And yes these were done in SSW. 8)

Well I have a sick drive to seek perfection within things cannon. I was asking whether it wouldn't be beter to us the Stormcrow because there already is a 6/9 clan medium omni, so if someone wants to build another one, he'd better had a good reason to build it. I'm looking at designs as they were real hardware, so when there is another design it had better had a story behind it telling me why does it even exist. You don't build another tank when you can just modify the one you already have (reduces costs, spare parts...). Unless it's just a concept...

yah, you'll find that many of the people here are campaign orientated designers. We like to look at things from an in-universe perspective. So you might keep a heads up and just post at the beginning: concept design, otherwise we expect fluff and good reasoning.
