I knew Germany was good, but holy shit!!!! The Saudis could have had 15 guys out there and it wouldn't have mattered.
8 goals in a World Cup game. Just about unheard of.

actually, in football, after the 4th goal, the losing side is so demoralized that you can just as esasily score a few more.
And the record in a World Cup, well, classification stage, but it counts, it's the 12-1 of Spain vs Malta in 1986

The Saudis played just terrible. It was painful to watch. And the only reason the Germans didn't get 10 is the game is only 90 minutes (plus injury time) long.

Are the Germans still playing like they used to do in the 1990s? That is grind on and on and on and on and on, attempting the same move for ever until the opposition just caves in and lets them go through.

Colorado did score nil....Hasek kicked in one on himself and it was turned down. *grumble* and I did post the score with no other commentry, except that it "mysteriously dissapeared".

Well, as a German, I must say it WAS fun to watch. A nice change for once.....
Demoralisation is a problem after collecting 3-4 goals. We really aren't THAT bad compared to England (remember the 1-5 embarrasment last year?), but after catching a couple of quick goals, there wasn't any game left.
We needed to win this one. But really, it means....not much. The Ireland game is the most important one, it shows where we are standing, and will set us up against Cameroon.
So far, my 'MUAHAHAHAHA' goes to France, Croatia and, yes, England! Compared to them, we're definitely doing well.
The German team, player for player, isn't much better than in the late '90s. The BIG difference is that since getting the new coach (Rudi Völler), our team has regained a team spirit not seen since 1990. Even the 1-5 blow didn't crush that.
