Catalyst Game Labs Releases Strategic Operation In PDF Format For Holidays
The coming of holidays means time off together with family and friends. And for gamers, that means time to play games! Catalyst Game Labs knows this is the perfect time for BattleTech players to dive into a new advanced rulebook and put those rules to the test on the gaming table. Catalyst is pleased to release the Strategic Operations PDF.
Strategic Operations is the fourth core rulebook (campaign play, BattleForce and advanced aerospace options) beyond the Introductory Box Set. The Origins Award winning box set is the perfect starting point for any new or returning player, allowing them to leap into the universe with everything they need to play. Total Warfare and
TechManual are the core game play and game construction rulebooks that build off of the rules and fictional universe contained in the box set; the perfect reference for any type of standard rules play.
Beyond the standard rules, a legion of advanced rules exists, allowing players to expand their games in any direction they desire. In an effort to bring these rules to players in the most logical form possible, the advanced rules are contained in three core rulebooks, each one staging up and building off of the previous rules set.
Each advanced rulebook is also designed for complete “plug and play” use. Every time players sit down to game they can open up an advanced rulebook, find a cool, new rule to try and bring it to the table knowing it’ll plug into what ever type of rules are currently in use. A particular gaming group may find some rules are not for them, while others become favorites that are in use every session. The plethora of rules, depth of play and ease of implementation will provide any gaming group with endless future possibilities.
The first advanced rulebook,
Tactical Operations , provides a whole new level of exciting ground play, once the players have reached the target planet. A host of optional movement and combat rules, and other general rules from planetary conditions to morale, minefields to artillery—as well as a host of advanced and experimental technologies—opens up new tactics for players to employ against their friends.
Strategic Operations is the next advanced rulebook, staging up play from the planet to the entire solar system. While the primary world in a system may have been the initial target for the players, that doesn’t mean that multiple worlds in the system don’t need conquering. Linked scenarios and the much anticipated Maintenance, Salvage, Repair and Customization Rules allow players to build any type of campaign they wish. This includes rules for transporting troops between worlds and advanced aerospace and combat rules to protect those troops as they combat drop onto a new target world. From a few days and a handful of scenarios, to weeks and dozens of scenarios that push the player’s skills and imaginations to the max as they create their own legends, Strategic Operations has the plug and play rules for any campaign.
Strategic Operations also includes the complete BattleForce rules: The Classic BattleTech game of lightning fast combat. Embracing all the rules from Total Warfare to Strategic Operations, the completely self-contained BattleForce rules will allow players to leap into a fast and furious BattleTech game. Players can enjoy all the visceral feel of metal titans striding across alien landscapes to expand their empire’s power, at a fraction of the time of a standard game.

Catalyst has updated the product page fore each of the four core BattleTech rulebooks currently available. You can now download the blank record sheets and compiled tables for Total Warfare, TechManual, Tactical Operations and Strategic Operations from their respective product pages on this site. These compiled tables and blank record sheets are taken directly from the back of each respective book and often include additional pages not available in the PDF or print version of the full book; such additions provide additional sheets and/or reference material for more player usability. Additionally, for the first time, the weapons and equipment tables from TechManual are available in the TechManual Blank Records Sheets & Tables PDF.
