This is an attempt to convert the Direwolf to IS tech made by house Stainer around 3065. I wanted something 'more aggressive' than the Hauptmann, the result is far from being as formidable as the original (I had to decrease armor and heat dissipation, but it can still carry 50.5t of equipment and it has almost zero crit space filled). I would like to hear your oppinions. I wonder what the BV 2.0 will do with this heat / ammo monster...

Primary configuration is clearly an attempt to remake the long range sniper Dire Wolf prime. Without careful heat management the'mech will overheat, but it can stand still and fire PPCs and ACs at double rate or move while holding the ACs back a little. The LRMs are good for some extra firepower or to spread mines, smoke, ect. It's obvious that the amount of weapons found on the originalmachine can't be reached with bulky and heavy IS tech, but the result isn't that bad. Of course that the 'Mech lacks CASE, but before you start to complain look at BV and remember how quickly the ACs eat ammo.

The A configuration is a long range fire support with an excessive amount of backup weapons. With three tons of un-CASEd ammo it should stay away from combat and bombard the enemy from afar and reserve the GR and lasers to deal with anything that attempts to exploit the LRM minimal range. Of course that a HGR could be more Stainer-like and you can bet that it would fit in, but I decided that lasers would be more reliable.

Those who look on heat scale must think that I'm insane, but you'll quickly find out that the B configuration is not meant to use everything at once. If you want to see a newb fry, then this may be a good chioce. This is clearly a city denial machine, armed with an ultra AC/20 and twin streak SRM-6 racks the B clearly demonstrates stainer facination with big guns. The lasers are there just in case that the 'Mech is confronted with something like the old Alley Cat waiting tsnipe and flee. I used the old fashioned MGs because at the time I made this config the SPLs weren't useful against infantry and I decided to keep them since they allow the 'Mech to deal with foot sloggers without having to worry about the heat. Again the BV is pretty low for a jumping 100t monstrosity thanks to overheating and ammo load, but if you use brackets
the heat shouldn't trouble you.

C configuration was made as a medium range weapons platform. Two ultra AC/10s and two large lasers can quickly do a lot of damage and ER mediums serve as backup when the ammo is gone. This config was made just because I wanted to see two UAC/10 on this chassis, not much else.

Even though some weapon configurations seem to yell "munchkin" a glance at the heat scale will revise that oppinion soon!

Yes, for those who are not aware of this, the Höllenwolf is how Germans translated the Dire Wolf in their conversion of BattleTech... Lyran name was sooo easy to find here. (Nein ich verde keinen Kampftitan kreiren)

I didn't make it to completely mimic the Daishi, that is impossible, but to create an omni that would be loosely inspired by the original. I tried to keep the original design philosophy by stuffing the arms with guns and then to balance the heat to allow the 'Mech to reasonably use it's load out. I originally considered making the HGR config, but until recently it wasn't feasible. Originally it had some structural components that prevented installing CASE along with it and so I dismissed thoughts to mount 11 explosive crits that can't be neutralized during the game.

I'll look upon the Widowmaker, but I can't promise anything since I keep only the configurations that I like, the others are deleted and forever forgotten.

I must apologize for delayed answer. Both configs seem serviceable, the Widowmaker seems to be an almost perfect copy (what the hell is the ammo doing in CT? If that wasn't UAC/20... Wink ). Peter's config is less to my liking, but should work.

I had little choice, that ammo wasn't going to fit with the other ammo, and I didn't know where to put it. I figured the center torso was well armored, and hopefully he'd eat through that batch first. It should be noted that I take the accuracy of the Widowmaker conversion as a great compliment...considering I haven't looked at the Widowmaker's stats.

As for Peter's version, what's not to like? I'm basing this on limited evidence I've seen of Peter thus far. Last I saw, he piloted a Fafnir, so I would imagine that he probably enjoys the Heavy Gauss. The light PPCs are a bit out of place maybe, but I wasn't sure what else to use. I wanted something with range to go with the Guass. ER Large Lasers would have worked too, but the heat system is already over taxed. I'd also have to drop equipment elsewhere to make it work.

I could try quad ER Large Lasers I guess. In fact, that sounds interesting...just a sec...

Tell me how that one strikes you. It's less of an altered Widowmaker now, and more it's own design. I could probably copy the Fafnir on this chassis, but then, what's the point?

And, given the shakiness of supply lines during the Jihad, the quad lasers give Peter respectable firepower at range, with no ammo problems. Got some heat problems though, but I'm out of space and tonnage. SPLAS is standard token anti-infantry defense.

Edit: I could mix it up more, I guess, give it mismatch arms... I don't know, it's hard to design for Peter. I can't get a real good bead on him, other than he's meticulous and methodical. Maybe a targeting comp?

Just one look on 'Mech hit table and you'll see why I don't like having ammo in CT. Since most hits come directly to frontal armor the possibility that someone rolls 2 and sends the 'Mech to orbit is higher. And no CASE will save you.

I didn't like Peter's configuration mostly just because... some 'Mechs I don't like. The light PPCs actually could work well. I take it that the HGR is splitted between CT and RT (11 crits...) and CASEd, which is good.

The second config will have problems with it's lasers. Light PPCs could replace one ER PPC to prevent overheating while moving. That is a nice touch, but I think that this would still use some thinking.

Meanwhile I manipulated the dark arts to create a widowmaker with HGR. The resulting bastard is here.

This one has the required thought in it, and I like it rather much. Other than the Heavy PPC, all Lyran equipment. And the HPPC could be captured Blakist stuff. Two VERY heavy hitting weapons, a long range back up weapon, some sandblasting up close, and still anti-infantry defense. Also suffers less heat build up than some variants, like my ER Laser version.

First config is pretty good, but it lacks something... the same can't be told about the second config, which is totally awesome. With Jihad in place I wouldn't be worried that Stainer Merchants are unable to get their hands on heavy PPC. Energy gauss of the Inner Sphere can't avoid Stainer hands forever. I would try spread the ERLL and MLs between the arms more evenly to give it wider firing arcs for both range brackets and to prevent it from losing all ranged energy weapons or all short range energy firepower with arm destruction, but that is just personal preference. The weapons mix is really cool on this one. Salute
