I didn't do any fluff because I wasn't quite sure who to assign this to.

The main thing I was looking at was this: if I were to drop it down to 5/8 movement and give it Endo, would the resultant gain in firepower and armor justify the loss of mobility?

IMHO, the answer was yes. An ECM suite now helps keep the unit from being detected, helping make it a good ambusher. If the prey gets close, then instead of the lone SRM 6 they'll now be dealing with that 6 supported by an array of four medium lasers; anything lighter than 40 tons will be in for a pounding. A pair of rear-firing smalls helps the mech deal with infantry and battle armor that might try to flank it.

The armor is near-max, and a CASE system now protects the SRM ammo. Even if the prey does survive the initial volley, it'll find this new version a much tougher nut to crack.

Now it actually resembles the scorpion. Just wait somewhere and then... STING Twisted Evil

It reminds me of my Hyena quad. 4 MLs, SRM 6, LRM 5, 5/8/5 and heavy armor (3025 tech). The role of my 'Mech is different but short range armament, mobility and armor are nearly identical.

I think that this machine is a good brawler.

I have always liked the Scorpion, it was one of thoes mechs that was always kind of ignored but interesting to play. This version is very nice. much better firepower and armor. I have a friend that always says "Speed is LIFE", I have replied a few times with, "But armor and weapons are better". This is one of thoes cases where I think this applies.
