Be wary of any e-mail you get saying that you've gotten an e-card.

I got hit by a virus last night, but fortunately my two anti-virals (Norton's *and* PC-cillin) caught it before it could do anything.

You should only use one anti-virus program...using two actually leaves you vulnerable as they stop each other from performing certain tasks.

Actually?

In this case the two seem to be playing well together.

Both of them acted at the same time when they spotted the virus, effectively tag-teaming it.

I then had Norton's do a deep scan, and followed it up with a deep scan from PC-cillin.

I got an e-card prolly about a week ago. I deleted out of hand.

How did I know it was a virus? Because no one ever sends me e-cards.

It doesn't work that way.

I suggest you spend a few minutes researching this. Trust me.

OK, I am curious, could you provide links that indicate it is unsafe to use two at the same time? From what I've read using two is perfectly acceptable although it may slow down performance. So I'd like to see your links. (Not that I'm disagreeing with you, I just couldn't find anything that was non-Vendor stating this)

My email provider, I kept the one I had while at college way back in the dial up days...and they block a ton of SPAM and crap, and E-Card messages are there daily as blocked ones.

According to the company, they get tons of these kinds of emails daily for the last month or two.

It's worth the $25 a year for me to keep these guys around.

Just search google and pick your favorite site to get articles from. Laughing

There are literally tens of thousands of articles about why not to do it.

I'm sure. But since you are the one making the claim, I'm asking you to provide a credible link. Some probably do conflict, but others are perfectly compatible.

They all conflict...the "best" you can hope for by running two is your system slows down.

Here's one link, but I can literally post thousands (and not one from an anti-virus company) if folks would like.

Yes please do so, since your posting is the first time I have heard of two AV programs not wanting to work together.

I run two different Anti-Sypware programs and between them they catch 98% of the crap, and I have both Norton and Mcafee on my computer and seem to have no major issues...

So please share a some more of the links that explains the issue in detail so we can find out more about this.

You can run most anti-spyware programs together and not have an issue. I have a couple running and have never had an issue with running as many as four at a time. But those programs are designed to run with other anti-spyware and AV programs. I am unaware of any anti-virus program designed to work while another AV program is running.

For some things to read about running two AV programs at the same time, feel free to click below.

http://forums.pcworld.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=46941 (This one just mentiones it's not a good idea, but has some other cool info worth seeing)

The truth is it is fairly common knowledge that you shouldn't run two AV programs at the same time, and the web is litterally chocked full of information about it.
