==Overview:==
While an Omni VTOL seems like an implausibility, this is actually what the
Defender represents.

Its bulbous shape, almost like a giant insect, appears to be a throwback to
the middle and latter part of the 1900s when this was a common design style
for scout and light utility helicopters.

The Defender has eight tons of pod space, with pods in each wing and a pod
mounted underneath the cockpit.

The A model is an enigma. While it keeps the all-purpose machine gun, the
missiles have been replaced with an AC/2. This allows the A to hit targets at
long ranges, but for only token damage. One must wonder whether or not this
model was intended to make use of the new Federated Suns specialty AC
munitions.

==Overview:==
Whereas the A model is merely unusual, the B model is close to bizarre. This
model appears to be some sort of hunter-killer unit, with a weapon set and an
electronic device in each pod - ECM and RLs on the left wing, SRM and BAP on
the right wing, and the MG plus TAG beneath the cockpit.

As near as can be figured, the rationale is thus. The ECM protects the
Defender from being spotted, while it uses its BAP to seek its particular
target. Once the target is spotted, the crew can choose to attack using its
mixed load-out (which would be potentially lethal against infantry, their
carriers, and light structures) or use the TAG to designate the target for
artillery bombardment (in the event of heavier targets).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
Did I say the B version was bizarre?

I was wrong.

It's the C version.

This version sports two winches, one attatched to each wing. According to the
specifications, these two winches can be used to haul up to 6 tons of cargo if
both winches are used in conjunction with each other. If used individually,
then each winch is rated at 3 tons' cargo. Note that these weights are what
the Defender can haul *before* the unit suffers a loss of speed.

It is curious as to what purpose this version could potentially serve.
Transport? Recovery? Engineering?

==Capabilities:==
Each individual winch weighs 1 ton. This covers the weight of the mechanism,
cable, and moorings.

Each individual winch is rated at being able to lift and hold 3 tons while the
helicopter is airborne. Note that this tonnage should include the pallate or
container that the cargo will be on.

For me Omni-vehicles jsut do not jive. No matter how good it is. Like the Badger and others I convert to standard design and allow one or two variants. OK by rules but just does not meet what vehicles are, cheap specialist war machines. Mechs are the versitile machines of everything.

AWAD- Made my statement and sticking to it

Actually it's quite normal. Modern combat helicopters have also modular loadout, don't they?

Each wing has a number of hardpoints that can accept different types of missiles.

They are to a point, as Karken said the plyon wings on the sides of the chopper have hardpoints that let's things like (for US Helicopters and I am sure others as well) TOWs, HELLFIRES and JAVELINs all to be mounted at the same time as well as 2.75in Rocket pods or carmeras or fuel pods or what everything may need. I have seen helicopters like the Blackhawk have speakings mounted on the plyon wings for PsyOps mission.

BUT AWAD has a good point to, vehicles are suppose to be the redheaded stepchild of the game...

Be careful with that. Many times there are restrictions on what can be loaded where. Also fire control issues come into play. But Note that all of them are usually some sort of missle, not a massive change to another system all together.

AWAD- Zoomies rock

I know how modern helicopters work, I was just defending modular design...
