Overview:
The Mini Hetzer Wheeled Assault Gun was designed meet a price point of 500,000 C-bills and yet still mounts new technology weapons. The success of the Hetzer II was good but many lesser nobles and poor planets were still looking for cheaper weapons platforms.

When first designing the Hetzer II, the Corean Light Gauss rifle was the original choice as main weapon. But market studies and perception made Quickcell change to the full size Gauss rifle. The directors realized that they could use the Corean version, which was more than willing to make a deal to improve sales, and put it on a lighter chassis.

Even though still called an assault gun the Mini Hetzer II is more of a fire support and skirmish platform. The lack of punch makes it less feared and more prone to being overrun. The MG was such a hit on the Hetzer II that it was also included in the Mini Hetzer II but its value to combat operations is dubious at best.

After a little research it was realized that a lighter chassis would need less crew to man the vehicle, a cost savings for the owners of the Mini Hetzer.

With gusto they went into design and production in less than 6 months. Weighing a few 10 tons lighter than the Hetzer or Hetzer II its lower profile makes it easy to discern from its cousins. Almost the same amount of armor but some sacrifices had to be made. The 500,000 Cbill mark was missed by less than 20,000 c-bills, making it a bargain indeed.

They are rumors some unscrupulously sales agents have had contracts that mention a secondary weapons mount but no MG, and armor that is only 10mm thick on the front and sides instead of 12.5 like original specs. It meets the magic 500,000 Cbill mark but the end client get a surprise of a lesser armored tank with no MG.

Capabilities:
The Mini Hetzer II is more like the original Hetzer than the Hetzer II. Very simple vehicle to manufacture and quality to die by. The 500,000 Cbill goal meant every corner that could be cut, was. Less strut supports, no shocks, bench seats with no cushions, only one hatch door to get in and out of.

The low profile makes it easy to identify but in terms of looks it is identical to the original Hetzer. A single box looking compartment with the gun sticking out the front. The Corean Light Gauss is exposed to the crew on the interior.

The Corean Light Gauss Rifle is a rugged and reliable gun. It lacks the punch of the big Gauss rifle or even an AC10 but it has range of an AC2 and significantly more punch. The sighting and aiming system is a little crude but reliable once the target has been ranged and vectored.

GM Mini Gun is more of a comfort weapon with little function other than to keep rioters and insurgent infantry types at a distance from the Mini Hetzer II.

When staying back and giving covering fire for a defensive line or a unit moving forward the Mini Hetzer performs its function well. Once it is cut off or gets too close, the lack of a killer weapon, speed to get away, or thick armor usually means the crew and little tank are doomed.

Battle History:
Baron Gates of Great Gorge in the Federated Suns bought one of the first lances to come off the production line. The Mini Hetzer II was to augment his militia defense force against pirate raids and occasional bandits.
On July 27th, 3065 pirates from the Tortuga Dominium made another raid. The pirates landed near a medium sized city that was expected to have infantry and wheeled SRM transports only it seemed an easy mark.
The pirates formed up and planned on rushing half their forces right at the city with the remaining enveloped them. While milling around a grain silo exploded next to them, then a few trees got cut down. Unsure what was going on all they could see was a lance of wheeled transports 400 meters away and closing, but they were out of range.
Preparing to cut down the attackers a couple of the containers they brought along to drag loot back were pierced through by weapons fire. Finally identifying the long range attackers at the edge of the city the pirates had no weapons with range to do anything about it. Suddenly SRM fire exploded around them and the center force turned and fled. The flanking forces then came under fire from the Mini Hetzer IIs and quickly called off the attack.
Flush with victory the Mini Hetzer IIs moved out to hunt down the pirates, but one broke down within minutes and another was quickly disabled by enemy fire from the flank. The forces fell back to the city. It was later confirmed not one Light Gauss Shell hit an enemy Mech but the confusion caused them to abandon the attack.

Deployment
Found only in the poorest or most remote Militias and noble armories. Quickcell did a marketing ploy and gave a company of them to the Outworlds Alliance. Then Quickcell hired some down on their luck Mercs to attack. With all the attack info known, and equipment being used, the Mercs were cut to shreds. To date over 2 battalions have been sent into the field. It is said over 1 regiment in at the Quickcell manufacturing plant having various minor quality issues patched up and then sold.

You are correct. TRO 3067..... hmmm I think I own a copy of it. But hate it. Just the look and feel is all wrong to me.

But the Main Gauche is tracked........ and the Mini Hetzer is WHEELED

But the real items is the Hetzer II is CHEAP. for 2.1M C-bills you have a lance. For the same money you can have one of the following: 1 XL Main Gauche, 2 3058 Strikers, 1 Regulator Hover Tank, 1 SRM Carrier, or 2 Condors

Thanks for reviewing it.

AWAD- No war can be fought without a lot of money
