So I was taking a look at the Battletech Wikipedia entries, and they're pretty pathetic. For one thing, individual faction pages are needed. None of the historical background is well-covered, there are virtually no character pages, etc. Everything is just compiled as long lists, which really looks and feels half-baked and unprofessional. There's not much in the way of images either; character bios should have pictures when possible, factions should have faction logos (from all eras), etc.
Would there be any support to be found here for developing a Battletech wiki project? I think the first priority should be developing a template for the House pages and then developing high quality articles for each house, covering historical evolution, important personalities, military structure, etc.
It would also have to be a well-sourced project; everything would have to be drawn from canon materials.

| Yeah I've noticed the wikipedia entries are rather lacking. It would be nice if articles decribing different BattleTech weapons and mechs could be made, since this may be the first source of information for new people. It was for me before I bought the Master Rules.

I've done a bit more poking around, and I think the whole section needs to be more logically organized; I'm going to start working on a taxonomy of pages, so there is some sort of logical structure to work with. There's some missing pages too...for example, there's no Periphery article.
The other thing I'm looking to do is assemble a list of sources; I've got a lot in my own collection, but not everything.

I've seen that too...it also needs a lot of love, although there seems to be a dedicated community of editors working over there.
Both Wikis are GNU licensed, meaning that articles from one can also be published in the other, or at least sections can...there is some resistance at Wikipedia to having fully detailed treatment of fictional universes, although I don't personally agree with that point of view.

One of my goals is to have my own sort of "Universe Library" here. It won't truly be a wiki, but the plan is to have the ability to look up names, for example. If I did a search on Victor Davion it would show a family tree (as much as is known), a timeline of his life with key events, a detailed description of who he is, etc.
That's my plan, anyways. But that's a looooong way off. When I do start it I'll be enlisting volunteers to read through the sourcebooks front to back and enter all relevant data. Not a small undertaking.
