At what temperature does paint start to freeze? And if it does freeze, can it be thawed out so long as the container isn't broken?

I have a popcorn tin that's filled with assorted model paint (both enamel and acrylic) as well as some craft paint (acrylic) and RPG miniature paint (acrylic).

On Tuesday, I'm going to be getting in a new bed. To make room for the delivery people, some of my stuff is having to go out into the garage. Despite my protests, my mom made me put that tin out there as well.

The garage is *not* air-conditioned, and so it does get cold in there.

I've got about $100 worth of paint in that tin, and so if that paint freezes I'm out a week's pay.

Thanks.

Hey, karken, I live over in Killeen, we need to get together for a game.

My paints are in the garage and so far I haven't had any issues.

It hasn't gotten that cold down here in TX for paint to freeze. I could be wrong on this one, but it needs to be below 15 degrees for paint to freeze since it's thick to start with.

My main concern, as I stated, is that I've got $100 or so in paint out there.

The craft paint and most of the model paint can be replaced by a trip to Wal-Mart. However, the rest of it will require me running over to Hobby Lobby, Book Stan' (have you located that yet?), and possibly even the war gaming shop on Stan Schleuter loop if that's still in business. That's going to entail an entire afternoon of running around.

Stan's Books, yeah i found it and I also found Battlefields which has some better chocies for WH40K and BT.

The paint shouldn't freeze, you need a week or more plus of below 20 degrees or so for it to freeze solid. So you should be safe.

Yeah, it takes a while for paint to be ruined by low temps. I've left paints out in my car overnight during a Canadaian winter, to no ill effect. If it does separate, just mix it again.
Different story with inks. They freeze just like water, and will probably bust out of the container. Stupid cheap Citadel screwcaps...
